Описание: An epic journey through the economies of ancient civilizations, and how they managed debt versus social instability. Shocking historical truths about how debt played a central role in shaping (or destroying) ancient societies (viz: Rome), and that the Bible is preoccupied with debt, not sin, which has been disturbingly inverted in modern times.

Описание: Poetry. Native American Studies. California Interest. Many of the poems in this collection are inspired by stories told by Ascension Solorsano de Cervantes, a descendant of indigenous people in what became California, and the last fluent native speaker of the Mutsun language. This sets the tone for Charlotte Muse's poetry, taking the form of a literary expedition, at times anthropological, at others anthropomorphic, through many lives, many times, historical past and personal past, bodies human and animal, flesh and spirit--so much layered in these pages. Her opening poem, Why You're Afraid of the Road answers that it might be the impulse to leave the world--what if you just drove off the edge / because you were tired of all / curves and wanted to lie on air? This thought is echoed in the title poem, forgiving the river even as it carries her away, giving up my own motion... / Already I'm dissolving in the world. Writing of Last Days, she imagines the earth opening to disgorge the souls of the dead, so many that one walks through them like a projection: there's no sensation, but there's a shadow on you, / and for a moment, a face replaces / your face. If this sounds morbid, it's not--merely another way of seeing the world. And yet another way is through animals, beginning with the image of an owl painted on a cave wall thirty thousand years ago, left in darkness, perspective frozen in stone: Doesn't everything want to take in more of the world?, she asks, for the owl and for us.Later, writing of a living owl flying over a mountain lake, she longs to see with the bird's eyes: I'll watch until mine, too, see wide / all the way to the other side. The other side of life, that is. She finds this gift in animals, many of which appear here, snakes and rats and pigs and bees. Whatever a fish wants to do / takes the whole fish she observes--such concise advice for living. Mourning the dead bodies of frogs dissected in biology classrooms occasions a plea for forgiveness from all the world: Please. Don't go. / We want you back. / We see now what we've broken. / We didn't mean to break it / break it break it. We didn't / mean to break it. Still, she writes of hope that we can learn from such experiences: This poem says Don't worry. / You're the one whose heart was broken or awakened. / Who knows the story better than you? The closing poem describes a photograph of a lost world, of Europe in 1909, a watch always ticking closer to Sarajevo and the great war and the war after that and / the ends of so many worlds. Like Solorsano, Muse writes of, and from, the ends of worlds--but perhaps, also, the possibilities of new ones.

Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, came to Jesus by night and confessed, "Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him." Jesus told Nicodemus, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:23)
This declaration that Jesus made to Nicodemus holds true to all who seek forgiveness and eternal life. If we want to see Heaven, then we also must be born again. Many fear they cannot be forgiven for one particular sin or a multitude and are afraid they are unable to experience this new birth, which is God's gift of salvation.
The purpose of this book is to share God's way of forgiveness. No matter what you've done, no matter what sin or sins you've committed, you can be forgiven. You can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and you can receive His gift of eternal life. God's Word is quite clear. Whosoever desires forgiveness and salvation can be saved, and whosoever means you.

Make Ups, Break Ups, sex stories, fights, drugs, selling and doing etc. This book shows you our lives and how we overcame all of these hardships we were faced with and how these hardships make the experience that much better. After reading this book, if you haven't gone to or enrolled to college, I guarantee you will want to, because you yourself can have the opportunity to live up to some of these stories. I'm not telling you to follow this book, but take from it what applies to your life. I did a lot of reckless things in college all of which I would never take back because those things made me who I am today. Through all the Bullshit, the hate etc, I made it out of college in Four years flat and not a day after. If I can still maintain great grades and do the things you see in this book so can you. Put your mind to the test and get it done. "You're only as strong as the person next to you"; that's why it took me and all of my peers from JWU to give you this book that will change your lives and the way you view college forever. Enjoy And look out for the next four books I am preparing for you at this moment Listed below is another huge accomplishment other than the grades I received. Remember, the words Average and Numbers means everything for a guy in college "The life of a star is surrounded by the qualities of a Galaxy; I am that Galaxy." - "Slicktor" Victor Robinson

How to Forgive Yourself in Fifteen Years is Rebecca's first poetry collection. Its twenty-one poems chronicle her journey towards recovery from a mental breakdown. The collection is an examination of the symptoms of chronic depression and anxiety disorder, tackling topics from relationships to suicide and self-harm.
These poems are a representation of the things that hurt too much to be spoken aloud. Of trauma, of pain, of failure - and perhaps most of all, of hope.

Journey along with Monica and her family as she unlocks the puzzle pieces of her life in order to see the complete picture. We make choices and decisions every day without careful thought of consequences and Monica is no exception. She struggles to forgive herself for everything she did and others who have hurt her. However, her quest leads her to realizations she never knew were possible.
God's hand is in all we do. The hardest part is recognizing it is happening. Sometimes, it just takes the help of a friend to point it out. Monica receives that help in the most unlikely place-a dressing room mirror.
"I was awakened by God and told to write," the author says. "I got up and started typing. After 7 years, the novel God put in my heart was completed. It changed my life and perspective." Her hope is to let everyone know that they don't need to be perfect to receive God's love. All it takes is a willing heart. Through Monica's journey, she was able to see God's hand in her own life.
Author confesses "I had made plans for my life but God had plans too. As I struggled to achieve what I thought was 'the dream', my life took turns and twists. Some were good but some were bad. I made good and bad choices. I suffered with anger, insecurity, and sadness. I felt unloved even when others said they loved me. This novel was an adventure that allowed me to uncover the source of my unhappiness. I pray it does the same for the readers." Although, this is a fictional story, the characters are inspirational for all.
Автор: Minow Martha Название: When Should Law Forgive? ISBN: 1684573912 ISBN-13(EAN): 9781684573912 Издательство: Неизвестно Цена: 27580.00 T Наличие на складе: Невозможна поставка. Описание: The potential power of forgiveness in an age of resentment. Crimes and violations of the law require punishment, and our legal system is set up to punish, but what if the system was recalibrated to also weigh grounds for forgiveness? What if something like bankruptcy-a fresh start for debtors-were available to people convicted of crimes? Martha Minow explores the complicated intersection of the law, justice, and forgiveness, asking whether the law should encourage people to forgive, and when courts, public officials, and specific laws should forgive. Who has the right to forgive? Who should be forgiven? And under what terms? Minow tackles these foundational issues by exploring three questions: - What does the international response to child soldiers teach us about the legal treatment of juvenile offenders in the US? - Why are the laws surrounding corporate debt more forgiving than those governing American student and consumer debt, and sovereign debt in the developing world? - When do law's tools of forgiveness, amnesties, and pardons strengthen justice, peace, and democracy (think South Africa), and when do they undermine law's promise of fairness (think Joe Arpaio)?
