By turns contemplative and playful, gentle and impassioned, Tagore's letters abound in incredible insights-from sharply comical portrayals of English sahibs to lively anecdotes about family life, from thoughts on the nature of poetry to spiritual contemplation and inner feeling. And coursing through all these letters, like a ceaseless heartbeat, is Tagore's deep love for the natural splendour of Bengal.
In this manner, this volume also serves as a prose companion to his magnificent work Gitanjali.Letters from a Young Poet shimmers with wit and warmth, and offers unforgettable vignettes of the young poet in those happy days before extraordinary fame found him.
Tagore's Gitanjali(Song Offerings) was first published from Shantiniketan in West Bengal, India in 1912 in Bengali. It contained 157 songs. Later on the English translation, by Tagore himself, of the Bengali book with the same name, with an introduction by W.B. Yeats, was published from India Society, London on 1st Nov 1912. The book contained 103 songs out of which 53 were taken from the Bengali version. Gitanjali in English earned Tagore The Nobel Prize in 1913.

EXCERPT: "Everything has sprung from immortal life and is vibrating with life, for life is immense.
This is the noble heritage from our forefathers waiting to be claimed by us as our own, this ideal of the supreme freedom of consciousness. It is not merely intellectual or emotional, it has an ethical basis, and it must be translated into action. In the Upanishad it is said, The supreme being is all-pervading, therefore he is the innate good in all. To be truly united in knowledge, love, and service with all beings, and thus to realise one's self in the all-pervading God is the essence of goodness, and this is the keynote of the teachings of the Upanishads: Life is immense "

The Home and the World (1916) is a novel by Bengali author Rabindranath Tagore. Written after Tagore received the 1913 Nobel Prize in Literature, the novel dramatizes the Swadeshi movement for Indian independence from British rule. Through the lens of one family, Tagore illuminates the conflict between Western culture and Indian nationalism while exploring the complex relationships of men and women in modern India.
Concerned for his wife, who spends most of her days inside, Nikhil, an educated aristocrat, brings Bimala to a political rally. There, they hear the magnanimous revolutionary Sandip speak out against British imperialism and call for Indian independence. Although Nikhil remains passive, if not indifferent, regarding British rule, Bimala, who comes from a poor family, reaches a political awakening of her own. When Nikhil and Bimala invite Sandip to stay as a guest at their home, Bimala moves further away from her traditional role as a wife and begins to develop romantic feelings for the radical figure. Aware of his growing influence, Sandip places himself between Nikhil and his wife while secretly attempting to convince Bimala to use her husband's wealth to support the Swadeshi cause. The Home and the World is a masterful novel that explores the personal behind the political, inserting the lives of individuals into history's great wheel without losing sight of humanity.
With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Rabindranath Tagore's The Home and the World is a classic of Indian literature reimagined for modern readers.
