Описание:
Rethinking the Education Doctorate so that practitioner knowledge is at the centre of programmatic concern in teacher education raises provocative education policy/practice considerations. Participants in the national Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) are doing just this. Their accounts of rethinking what counts as educational knowledge and their reconsideration of the roles of teacher educators, scholar-practitioners, students, policy makers, and others are illuminated in this book. Asserting the primacy of practitioner knowledge, the book generates a rich and complex terrain of issues and considerations that participating CPED institutions navigate as multiple technical, normative, and political questions at the crux of educator preparation, professional growth, and control of their field. And, it is this terrain that calls attention to the nature of practitioner knowledge and its inherent potential for redirecting, mediating, and generating education policy. Conversations within and across national and local levels orient away from technical means-ends “what works” questions alone, and open into normative and political questions about educational value and professional action.

In documenting the largest, most co-ordinated effort to rethink the educational doctorate in a century of such efforts, this book will interest teacher educators and programs engaged in pre-service and graduate level teacher education, practising K-16 teachers, and education policy/practice interest groups and individuals. Illustrating a policy development method that is neither topdown nor necessarily ‘grass roots’, it also invites the interest of other educational sectors. Additionally, as CPED implementation contexts value interdisciplinarity, multiple methodological perspectives, and interactions and deliberations across interests, the lived consequences and significance's of doing so are mapped out and, as such, hold much potential for policy/practice intersections within manifold education settings, and beyond, to settings of all kinds invested in the primacy of practitioner knowledge. Thus, a core goal of this volume is to broach these considerations with a broad readership.

...And so much more
There are two major types of online courses: mini-courses and transformational courses.
Mini-courses focus on helping students learn a skill or make slight improvements. They usually consist of only lessons, PDF workbooks, and resource guides as the participants would be expected to go through the lessons on their own.
Transformational courses, on the other hand, focus on helping the students to go through a complete transformation. Every step of the way, they need some form of additional support and mentoring from the course creator. In addition to the lessons, workbooks, and resource guides, the course creator would be expected to be available to answer questions and give feedback.
The length of time it will take your student to go through your online course is usually dependent on what type of online course it is.
Mini-courses are not complicated and the lessons can be consumed in a short period. Transformational courses take more time because it takes a while to get people to change. A good one should last for 60 - 90 days.
Anything longer than 90 days is usually too long, as your students might get tired or lose interest.
Google is undoubtedly one of the best things that happened in our lifetime, but it is only a search engine. It curates information. Anytime you search for a phrase, it gives you too much information, and many times, people don't know where to start from or which of the information is relevant.
In the fast-paced society we live in, a lot of people are looking for exact systems and formulas that can help them get the results they desperately need.
They don't have the time to search through all the information they find on Google, testing them out one after the other, to see which will work and which ones won't.
They are looking for exact results and a proven system to help them get those results. This is what online courses offer.

Описание: Most debates about the so-called research-practice gap in TESOL have focused on a one-way transfer of research evidence from the context of origin to the context of application. Rather than continuing such debates, Knowledge Mobilization in TESOL: Connecting Research and Practice sheds light on what happens after research is transferred to contexts of practice such as the classroom. It explores whether or not, and under what circumstances, research can make contributions to teachers’ professional learning and development. By featuring English language teachers’ first-hand accounts of research utilization, the book highlights the complex processes of making research-based knowledge meaningful for pedagogical practice. It shows why the success of any knowledge mobilization project depends on sensitivity to context and teachers’ interpretive engagement with research-based recommendations. Written in a lucid and accessible style, Knowledge Mobilization in TESOL: Connecting Research and Practice will appeal to a broad readership interested in research utilization in the field of education, especially in TESOL. It will be an informative text for pre-service and graduate courses in TESOL, ELT, applied linguistics, teacher education, and education policy studies. In-service teachers, teacher educators, program administrators, and funding agencies will also find it to be a valuable resource. Описание: Truth and Knowledge in Curriculum Making, addresses issues in curriculum and instruction, such as the lack of Black teachers, minority representation, and mentorship.
The book arose from a serial interpretation of five published narrative inquiries that pinpointed complexities lived in a teacher knowledge community at T.P. Yaeger Middle School, a campus located in the fourth largest urban center in America. The inquiry initially resulted in a documentary-style presentation at an educational conference using performance narrative inquiry as an arts-based method to recount the research. In Truth and Knowledge in Curriculum Making, the process of researchers turned actors is unraveled by looking at the lived experiences and identifying the embodied knowledge of teachers in different content areas including Physical Education, Music, Teaching English as a Second Language, Mathematics, and Reading. The authors use parallel stories, counter stories, story constellations, musical narrative inquiry, performance narrative inquiry and other narrative means of sense-making as they examine how they may relate to those stories. Ethical research dilemmas, including the how and why behind each author’s choice to burrow into difficult topics such as race, gender and conflict resolution are revealed. By unpacking the hidden curriculum, examining value creation and by revealing isolated relational experiences of participants and researchers, Truth and Knowledge in Curriculum Making instantiates and outlines how truth and knowledge may be formed in educational settings through intertwining narrative inquiry, teacher knowledge and aesthetic ways of knowing.

Описание: This book presents perspectives on the knowledge creation metaphor of learning, and elaborates the trialogical approach to learning. The knowledge creation metaphor differs from both the acquisition and the participation metaphors. In a nutshell trialogical approaches seek to engage learners in joint work with shared objects and artefacts mediated by collaboration technology. The theoretical underpinnings stem from different origins, including Bereiter and Scardamalia’s theory on knowledge building and Engestrom’s activity theory. The authors in this collection introduce key concepts and techniques, explain tools designed and developed to support knowledge creation, and report results from case studies in specific contexts. The book chapters integrate theoretical, methodological, empirical and technological research, to elaborate the empirical findings and to explain the design of the knowledge creation tools.
