Описание: Moving is hard, especially when you leave your best friends, your school, and first vegetable garden behind. When main character and military kid Zoe-Marie finds out that there is a move in her future she is understandably anxious, uncertain, and a bit hesitant to embrace the move.

A great "first chapter" book for early readers and a wonderful family read aloud book. In this story Zoe-Marie, an eight-year old daughter of a soldier confronts a change that demands she come to term with leaving longtime friends, school, and a cherished vegetable garden behind when her mother receives a new duty assignment.

With the help and encouragement of her parents and her best friends, Zoe-Marie comes to understand that moving and change are not necessarily bad. In the end she finds a way to face her upcoming move with generosity, optimism, and enthusiasm.

This book teaches children that change can sometimes be good and that in some situations they have the power to turn what they perceive will be a negative change into a positive experience by keeping an open mind and giving the new situation a chance, by "waiting to see" what happens.

In this beautifully and vibrantly illustrated chapter book, main character Zoe-Marie's fears about moving and her grief of leaving behind her best friends, her home, and her vegetable garden are acknowledged and validated by her parents who also encourage her to share her feelings and reassure her that they will be there to listen, understand, and to provide any help that she needs.

This heart-warming story, with its wonderful cast of multi-ethnic friends that listen and echo in "kid talk" what Zoe-Marie's mom and dad have already told her make Zoe-Marie finally decide that her move may just work out fine

Parents: "Zoe-Marie Wait and See" can help you to open a discussion with your kids about:

  • Thriving in times when they don't have control over a situation.
  • Feelings of grief that can occur when you leave your besties behind.
  • How to set positive expectations for a new situation.
  • The fact that change is a fact of life.
  • The fun and joy of sharing with neighbors.
  • How new schools and new friends can be a blast.
  • Remembering that you are always there for them with open ears and heart

Zoe-Marie Wait and See" is also a great farewell gift For more info visit: https: //www.bharrisbooks.com/books

Описание: This book explores the generative power of vulnerabilities facing individuals who inhabit educational spaces. We argue that vulnerability can be an asset in developing understandings of others, and in interrogating the self. Explorations of vulnerability offer a path to building empathy and creating engaged generosity within a community of dissensus. This kind of self-examination is essential in a selfie society in which democratic participation often devolves into neoliberal silos of discourse and marginalization of others who look, think, and believe differently. By vulnerability we mean the experiences that have the potential to compromise our livelihood, beliefs, values, emotional and mental states, sense of self-worth, and positioning within the Habermasian system/lifeworld as teachers and learners. We can refer to this as microvulnerability—that is, those things humans encounter in daily life that make us aware of the illusion of control. The selfie becomes an analogy for the posturing of a particular self that reinforces how one hopes to be understood by others. What are the vulnerabilities teachers and learners face? And how can we joker, as Norris calls it, the various vulnerabilities that we inherently bring into teaching and learning spaces? In light of the divisive discourses around the politics of Ferguson, Charlie Hebdo, ISIS, Ebola, Surveillance, and Immigration; vulnerability offers an entry way into exhuming the humanity necessary for a participatory democracy that is often hijacked by a selfie mentality.
