Si la majeure partie des contributions s’interesse aux voyageurs des temps modernes, les visiteurs de l’Antiquite sont aussi evoques, mythiques ou reels, et leurs motivations analysees et comparees a celles des « touristes » plus recents : on constate ainsi que la reputation de Pythagore a attire des personnages prestigieux a Crotone de l’Antiquite a nos jours et que la mauvaise reputation de Crotone, attribuee souvent aux voyageurs nord-europeens du Grand Tour, est en fait deja attestee a l’epoque imperiale romaine. Cela dit, les recits des explorateurs intrepides qui se sont rendus dans cette contree reputee hostile et dangereuse n’en sont donc que plus precieux. Les contributions de cet ouvrage en presentent quelques-uns, en questionnant leurs motivations et leur rapport au voyage, tout en elargissant le theme par l’evocation des voyageurs antiques, permettant ainsi une mise en perspective des raisons du voyage a Crotone.
