Описание: Mathematical sciences are contributing more and more to advances in life science research, a trend that will grow in the future. Realizing that the mathematical sciences can be critical to many areas of biomedical imaging, we organized a three-day minicourse on mathema- cal modelling in biomedical imaging at the Institute Henri Poincar einParis in March 2007. Prominent mathematicians and biomedical researchers were paired to review the state-of-the-art in the subject area and to share mat- maticalinsightsregardingfutureresearchdirectionsinthisgrowingdiscipline. The speakers gave presentations on hot topics including electromagnetic brain activity, time-reversal techniques, elasticity imaging, infrared thermal tomography, acoustic radiationforce imaging, electrical impedance and m- netic resonance electrical impedance tomographies. Indeed, they contributed to this volume with original chapters to give a wider audience the bene't of their talks and their thoughts on the ?eld. This volume is devoted to providing an exposition of the promising - alytical and numerical techniques for solving important biomedical imaging problems and to piquing interest in some of the most challenging issues. We hope that it will stimulate much needed progress in the directions that were described during the course. The biomedical imaging problems addressed in this volume trigger the investigation of interesting and di?cult problems in various branches of mathematics including partialdi?erential equations, h- monic analysis, complex analysis, numerical analysis, optimization, image analysis, and signal theory. MRI/DTI Atlas of the Rat Brain offers two major enhancements when compared with earlier attempts to make MRI/DTI rat brain atlases. First, the spatial resolution at 25 m is considerably higher than previous data published. Secondly, the comprehensive set of MRI/DTI contrasts provided has enabled the authors to identify more than 80% of structures identified in The Rat Brain in Stereotaxic Coordinates.

  • Ninety-six coronal levels from the olfactory bulb to the pyramidal decussation are depicted
  • Delineations primarily made on the basis of direct observations on the MRI contrasts
  • Each of the 96 open book pages displays four items-- top left, the directionally colored fractional anisotropy image derived from DTI (DTI - FAC); top right, the diffusion-weighted image (DWI); bottom left, the gradient recalled echo (GRE); and bottom right, a diagrammatic synthesis of the information derived from these three images plus two additional images, which are not displayed (ARDC and RD). This is repeated for 96 coronal levels, which makes the levels 250 μm apart.
  • The FAC images are shown in full color
  • The orientation of sections corresponds to that in Paxinos and Watson's The Rat Brain in Stereotaxic Coordinates, 7th Edition (2014)

This book presents three important technology-based rehabilitation interventions that follow the concepts of neuroplasticity. The book also discusses clinical results related to their efficacy. These interventions are: functional electrical stimulation therapy, which produces coordinated muscle contractions allowing people with paralysis to perform functional movements with rich sensory feedback; robot-assisted therapy, which uses robots to assist, resist, and guide movements with increased intensity while also reducing the physical burden on therapists; and brain–computer interfaces, which make it possible to verify the presence of motor-related brain activity during rehabilitation.
