On March 20, 1942, thousands of Jews were rounded up and brought tothe Rohatyn train plaza. From there, the Jews were loaded onto trucks and sent off to be murdered and buried en masse.
As they were being ushered forward, many saw a chance to save a child. That child was Donia.
On that day, Donia promised to find a way to remember those people and to bring her town "back to life." She acquired the permission from the Rohatyn Society to have the town's Yizkor Book translated so that it maybe accessible to survivors, their families, and historians.
Donia collected biographies of the contributors and new memoirs. She recorded speeches and photos from the Rohatyn Society's two visits to Rohatyn in the 1990's.
Together, these form the contents of Remembering Rohatyn and its Environs; a testimony and commemoration for those who saved a grateful young girl.

By transforming Muslim, Christian, and Jewish religious identities into legal categories, Laura Robson argues, the British ultimately marginalized Christian communities in Palestine. Robson explores the turning points that developed as a result of such policies, many of which led to permanent changes in the region's political landscapes. Cases include the British refusal to support Arab Christian leadership within Greek-controlled Orthodox churches, attempts to avert involvement from French or Vatican-related groups by sidelining Latin and Eastern Rite Catholics, and interfering with Arab Christians' efforts to cooperate with Muslims in objecting to Zionist expansion. Recent research has considered how changing imperial contexts influence conceptions of Jewishness among ruling elites (esp. Eckhardt, Ethnos und Herrschaft, 2013). This study integrates other, often marginal, conceptions with elite perspectives. It uses the ethnic boundary making model, an empirically based sociological model, to link macro-level characteristics of the social field with individual agency in ethnic construction. It uses a wide range of written sources as evidence for constructions of Jewishness and relates these to a local-specific understanding of demographic and institutional characteristics, informed by material culture. The result is a diachronic study of how institutional changes under Seleucid, Hasmonean, and Early Roman rule influenced the ways that members of the ruling elite, retainer class, and marginalized groups presented their preferred visions of Jewishness. These sometimes-competing visions advance different strategies to maintain, rework, or blur the boundaries between Jews and others. The study provides the next step toward a thick description of Jewishness in antiquity by introducing needed systematization for relating written sources from different social strata with their contexts.
