Описание: Neural networks are a family of powerful machine learning models. This book focuses on the application of neural network models to natural language data. The first half of the book (Parts I and II) covers the basics of supervised machine learning and feed-forward neural networks, the basics of working with machine learning over language data, and the use of vector-based rather than symbolic representations for words. It also covers the computation-graph abstraction, which allows to easily define and train arbitrary neural networks, and is the basis behind the design of contemporary neural network software libraries. The second part of the book (Parts III and IV) introduces more specialized neural network architectures, including 1D convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, conditioned-generation models, and attention-based models. These architectures and techniques are the driving force behind state-of-the-art algorithms for machine translation, syntactic parsing, and many other applications. Finally, we also discuss tree-shaped networks, structured prediction, and the prospects of multi-task learning.

Описание: The technology of neural networks has attracted much attention in recent years. Their ability to learn nonlinear relationships is widely appreciated and is utilized in many different types of applications; modelling of dynamic systems, signal processing, and control system design being some of the most common. The theory of neural computing has matured considerably over the last decade and many problems of neural network design, training and evaluation have been resolved. This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the most popular class of neural network, the multilayer perceptron, and shows how it can be used for system identification and control. It aims to provide the reader with a sufficient theoretical background to understand the characteristics of different methods, to be aware of the pit-falls and to make proper decisions in all situations. The subjects treated include: System identification: multilayer perceptrons; how to conduct informative experiments; model structure selection; training methods; model validation; pruning algorithms. Control: direct inverse, internal model, feedforward, optimal and predictive control; feedback linearization and instantaneous-linearization-based controllers. Case studies: prediction of sunspot activity; modelling of a hydraulic actuator; control of a pneumatic servomechanism; water-level control in a conical tank. The book is very application-oriented and gives detailed and pragmatic recommendations that guide the user through the plethora of methods suggested in the literature. Furthermore, it attempts to introduce sound working procedures that can lead to efficient neural network solutions. This will make the book invaluable to the practitioner and as a textbook in courses with a significant hands-on component.

Описание: Though based on an economic transition, retailer-consumer relationship is also influenced by non-economic factors and is a context of social interaction. With the emergence of modern merchandising techniques and a rise in large retail companies, consumers have become increasingly vigilant of practice within the retail industry. Handbook of Research on Retailer-Consumer Relationship Management offers a complete and updated overview of various perspectives relating to customer relationship management within the retail industry and stimulates the search for greater integration of these views in further research. Offering different angles to analyse the exchange between the retailer and the consumer, this handbook is a valuable tool for professionals and scholars seeking to upgrade their knowledge, as well as for upper-level students.

Описание: Data communications and networks are two of the fastest growing technological areas. This is because there is an almost unlimited demand for information transfer. Increased transfer rates give the opportunity for better applications and improved opportunities. These improvements lead to an increased demand for communications, and so on. Most people in business would now agree that networks and data communications makes their work easier and increases their productivity. Communication systems now cover many important areas of modem life. Without them, there would be no A TM bank services, no Internet, no video conferencing and no electronic mail. Ask most organizations about what their most important resources were and many would say that their communications infrastructure was the most important. Without it, they could not effectively communicate, and business needs good and reliable communications. Within a few years, the most important component in a computer system will not be the proc- essor or the amount of memory it is has, it will be its link to the network. Computers systems will become just another part of a local and a global communications network. It must also be said that communications is making the world a smaller place. It is reducing the influence that governments and organizations have on our life and makes it much easier for us search and retrieve information.

Описание: The Handbook of Multimodal-Multisensor Interfaces provides the first authoritative resource on what has become the dominant paradigm for new computer interfaces: user input involving new media (speech, multi-touch, hand and body gestures, facial expressions, writing) embedded in multimodal-multisensor interfaces that often include biosignals. This edited collection is written by international experts and pioneers in the field. It provides a textbook, reference, and technology roadmap for professionals working in this and related areas. This second volume of the handbook begins with multimodal signal processing, architectures, and machine learning. It includes recent deep learning approaches for processing multisensorial and multimodal user data and interaction, as well as context-sensitivity. A further highlight is processing of information about users' states and traits, an exciting emerging capability in next-generation user interfaces. These chapters discuss real-time multimodal analysis of emotion and social signals from various modalities, and perception of affective expression by users. Further chapters discuss multimodal processing of cognitive state using behavioral and physiological signals to detect cognitive load, domain expertise, deception, and depression. This collection of chapters provides walk-through examples of system design and processing, information on tools and practical resources for developing and evaluating new systems, and terminology and tutorial support for mastering this rapidly expanding field. In the final section of this volume, experts exchange views on the timely and controversial challenge topic of multimodal deep learning. The discussion focuses on how multimodal-multisensor interfaces are most likely to advance human performance during the next decade.
