Auke beschrijft hoe hij op 10 mei 1940 de grote vliegtuigen laag met een oorverdovend lawaai ziet overvliegen, hij plast in zijn broek van angst... In 1943 wordt er verhuisd naar de Parallelweg, dichterbij het werk van Heit maar ook dichterbij het oorlogsgeweld. Het nieuwe huis ligt vlak bij een spoorlijn en bij het Duitse afweergeschut. Dit wordt vaak onder vuur genomen en Auke moet dan met zijn familie vluchten naar de door Heit gemaakte schuilkelder in het bos. Auke is al op jonge leeftijd ge nteresseerd in alles wat gemotoriseerd is. Vaak kijkt hij naar de vliegtuigen, hij kent er als kind verschillende zoals de P-51, P-47 etc. Hij is onder de indruk van de houtgastruck die door de Duitsers, vanwege het gebrek aan brandstof, in het laatst van de oorlog wordt gebruikt. De hevigheid van de strijd wordt meer en meer zichtbaar vooral nadat in september 1944 de geallieerden Operatie Market Garden inzetten. Auke en zijn familie zijn steeds vaker getuigen van de bombardementen van de geallieerden en de gevolgen ervan. Op een novemberdag in 1944 komt de broer van Aukes vriend Willem om leven bij een bombardement. Dit raakt Auke en zijn familie heel erg. Ook Aukes familie raakt op Nieuwjaarsdag 1945 huis en haard kwijt door een bombardement. Tijdelijk wordt het gezin gehuisvest bij een naburige familie. Nadat het huis is herbouwd heeft vader Bijl de droom om een boerderij voor zichzelf te hebben, dit is in het naoorlogse Holland erg moeilijk. Als op een septemberdag in 1948 George W. Welsh uit de Verenigde Staten bij de familie Bijl arriveert is de vervulling van deze droom nabij. Vader Bijl wordt gesponsord door Margaret de Groot om een melkveebedrijf in Rockford, Michigan te beheren. Er moet echter wel snel besloten worden, Pieter en Gellie, Aukes broer en zuster vertrekken de week erop naar hun nieuwe vaderland om de komst van de rest van de familie voor te bereiden. Deze volgt binnen vier weken na een enerverende overtocht met de Nieuw Amsterdam. Auke is 11 jaar als hij emigreert, hij slaat zijn vleugels uit maar moet worstelen met een onbekende taal en cultuur alsook met gevoelens ten opzichte van de geallieerden die enerzijds het huis van zijn familie bombardeerden en anderzijds Holland bevrijdden. Auke houdt van het leven op de boerderij en geniet van het werken van de moderne machines in het nieuwe vaderland maar het feit dat de koeien zeven dagen per week gemolken moeten worden doen hem een ander beroep kiezen. Описание: This study presents a bilateral synthesis of artificial global warming and natural global cooling. Mainstream climatology lacks scientific integrity and statistical methodology. Peer review is changed into peer pressure and objectors are labelled "Deniers." Proper statistical analyses are replaced by graphs and non-causal correlation analyses that are based on the last 166 years, while 420,000 years of Antarctic data are mainly discarded. Furthermore, climatology ignores that 400 ppm of CO2 predicts a global temperature of 11.5 C, rather than the current 1.3 C. It focuses on artificial global warming and overlooks the threat of natural global cooling. It also ignores the solar expert Professor Zharkova, who predicts a mini ice-age by 2030, which is likely to turn global warming into global cooling. The current study compared the Antarctic temperatures during the last 10,000 years (baseline 0.00 C) with the global temperature of 1.3 C. This common definition of global warming failed to reach statistical significance. However, the Antarctic temperatures during the last 420.000 years support the notion that we live in a glacial period of -8.9 C, rather than in an interglacial period of 0.00 C. In that case, the artificial global warming would be 10.2 C, rather than 1.3 C. This alternative definition of global warming is statistically significant. Furthermore, it is supported by the current CO2 level of 400 ppm and the significant duration and stability of the current interglacial. Consequently, decreasing the CO2 level could cause a global disaster threatening the survival of humanity. The increased thermal range and the precarious balance between artificial global warming and natural global cooling could also explain the current climatological instability. Описание: Driven by the industrial pollution of the atmosphere, global warming is melting the polar ice sheets. The resulting rise in sea level threatens the survival of humanity. In addition, this study suggests that the atmospheric thermal effect of carbon dioxide during the last 420,000 years has been about ten times larger than the thermal effect observed during the last 55 years. In order to explain this phenomenon, it is proposed that the interglacial period has ended before the onset of the industrial revolution. Therefore, the industrial carbon dioxide would increase the low glacial temperature to an interglacial level. This pilot study is a wakeup call. The international scientific-political establishment seems to accept that the recent increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) from about 280 to 400 part per million (ppm) has increased the global average atmos-pheric temperature to 1.4 C above normal. Allegedly, this temperature is so high that the polar ice is melting, which in turn rises the sea levels flooding the low, fertile, industrial, and urban areas. This environmental disaster would force mass mi-grations threatening the global infrastructure and the survival of humanity. Even worse, this pilot study suggests that the thermal effect of CO2 is ten times larger than accepted by the scientific-political establishment. Hence, their attempts to stabilize CO2 at the current 400 ppm might not reduce the symptoms of climate change. Furthermore, it is proposed that we live in a glacial period, rather than in an interglacial period. Hence, CO2 should be carefully managed in order to maintain interglacial temperatures. This would make CO2 a beneficial substance, rather than a hazardous one. Due to inadequate datasets, fur-ther research of this topic is required urgently. Always a people-person and interested in machinery. As a young child Nazi occupied and war torn Holland was the only world he knew. His story begins in Snelleveld a small community his parents had moved to from Friesland for his father "Sybe" to take over a job to manage a dairy farm Baukje, his mother, was a bright and talented lady. Among her talents was her green thumb, both with flowers (with which she always surrounded herself and her family) and vegetables. The vegetables helped them live through times of hunger/starvation. The calm quiet life style came to a thundering halt on May 10th 1945, as German planes flew tree top level for the express purpose of terrorizing the population and boy it worked In 1943 they moved to Waardenburg area much closer to "Sybe's" work and closer to all kinds of action. For a starter dual railroad tracks with trains served as targets for allied planes. For defense the Germans had lots of Ack-Ack both 88s and heavy machine guns. Which made for what seemed safe entertainment for Sy, who spent many hours watching P51 and P38 and his all time favorite P47. Attacking whatever target presented itself. Another interesting item was the German wood burning trucks described in the book. The V1 rockets were a daily concern as they had a tendency to malfunction coming down causing a big explosion. The V2 flew overhead without concern for the local population. On New Years day January 1st 1945 the Byl house was totally destroyed by English bombers. Causing them to have to move in with not so willing neighbors, creating problems for all, especially 8 yr old Sy as the hosts had never had kids When the war ended in May 1945, "Sybe" created a new home out of an old German barrack. The the dream of having his own dairy started growing in "Sybe". So thoughts of immigrating started bubbling up, as starting one's own dairy in postwar socialist Holland was out of the question. October 1948 the New Amsterdam boat, took the Byl's to Rockford Michigan, USA where "Sybe" would manage a neat dairy. This is an exciting adventure for 11yr old Sy, who can't wait to get his hands on the tractors and other equipment learning English had some adventuresome moments, but all in all very exciting. His formal education stopped at the 8th grade much to his disgust, Heit needed him on the farm as Pieter got drafted Sy felt very much cheated, but thanks to the US Army he learned self reliance, and self confidence. Because they taught him if he applied himself and studied hard he could compete with most anybody, thanks to the US Army.
