Описание: Covering modern RFID systems, this book examines the challenges to RFID implementation using specific industrial research examples and common integration issues. It answers questions surrounding building scalable global Internet-based RFID networks.
This book deals with the field of identification and sensors, more precisely the possibility of collecting information remotely with RF waves (RFID). The book introduces the technology of chipless RFID starting from classical RFID and barcode, and explores the field of identification and sensors without wire, without batteries, without chip, and with tags that can even be printed on paper.
A technique for automatic design of UHF RFID tags is presented, aiming at making the tags as insensitive as possible to the environment (with the ability to increase the reading range reliability), or, conversely, making them sensitive in order to produce sensors, meanwhile keeping their unique ID. The RFID advantages are discussed, along with its numerous features, and comparisons with the barcode technology are presented. After that, the new chipless RFID technology is introduced on the basis of the previous conclusions. Original technological approaches are introduced and discussed in order to demonstrate the practical and economic potential of the chipless technology.

Описание: . Chipless RFID based on RF Encoding Particle: Realization, Coding and Reading System explores the field of chipless identification based on the RF Encoding Particle (REP). The book covers the possibility of collecting information remotely with RF waves (RFID) with totally passive tags without wire, batteries, and chips, and even printed on paper. Despite the many benefits of RFID, deployment is still hindered by several economic and technological factors. Among these barriers are the high cost of tags, lack of reliability and security in the information contained in the RFID chip, and how tags are 'recycled.'. This book focuses on the development of chipless RFID tags, representing a new family of low cost tags. With this technology information is extracted from the electromagnetic response of the tag, which depends only on its geometry. Various solutions have been developed by the authors to increase the amount of information, reduce the surface of the tag, or improve the robustness of detection. Considerations such as realization using paper substrate, the development of a low cost detection system, and measurements in a real environment have been addressed for practical implementation.

Описание: . RFID and Wireless Sensors using Ultra-Wideband Technology explores how RFID-based technologies are becoming the first choice to realize the last (wireless) link in the chain between each element and the Internet due to their low cost and simplicity. . Each day, more and more elements are being connected to the Internet of Things. In this book, ultra-wideband radio technology (in time domain) is exploited to realize this wireless link. Chipless, semi-passive and active RFID systems and wireless sensors and prototypes are proposed in terms of reader (setup and signal processing techniques) and tags (design, integration of sensors and performance). The authors include comprehensive theories, proposals of advanced techniques, and their implementation to help readers develop time-domain ultra-wideband radio technology for a variety of applications. . This book is suitable for post-doctoral candidates, experienced researchers, and engineers developing RFID, tag antenna designs, chipless RFID, and sensor integration.

Описание: RFID stands for Radio-Frequency Identification. The acronym refers to small electronic devices that consist of a small chip and an antenna. The chip typically is capable of carrying 2,000 bytes of data or less. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a technology that is rapidly gaining popularity due to its several benefits in a wide area of applications like inventory tracking, supply chain management, automated manufacturing, healthcare, etc. The benefits of implementing RFID technologies can be seen in terms of efficiency (increased speed in production, reduced shrinkage, lower error rates, improved asset tracking etc.) or effectiveness (services that companies provide to the customers). Radio-frequency identification (RFID) uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. The tags contain electronically stored information. Passive tags collect energy from a nearby RFID readers interrogating radio waves. The RFID device serves the same purpose as a bar code or a magnetic strip on the back of a credit card or ATM card; it provides a unique identifier for that object. And, just as a bar code or magnetic strip must be scanned to get the information, the RFID device must be scanned to retrieve the identifying information. RFID tags, a technology once limited to tracking cattle, are tracking consumer products worldwide. Many manufacturers use the tags to track the location of each product they make from the time its made until its pulled off the shelf and tossed in a shopping cart. A significant advantage of RFID devices over the others mentioned above is that the RFID device does not need to be positioned precisely relative to the scanner. Were all familiar with the difficulty that store checkout clerks sometimes have in making sure that a barcode can be read. And obviously, credit cards and ATM cards must be swiped through a special reader. RFID technology has been available for more than fifty years. It has only been recently that the ability to manufacture the RFID devices has fallen to the point where they can be used as a "throwaway" inventory or control device. Some common problems with RFID are reader collision and tag collision. Reader collision occurs when the signals from two or more readers overlap. The tag is unable to respond to simultaneous queries. This book entitled Deploying RFID - Challenges, Solutions, and Open Issues will be of great importance for engineers, researchers and industry personnel, and provide them with some new ideas to address current and future issues they might be facing.
