Описание: Heat is the kinetic energy of particles as they vibrate. If we heat the particles at one end of a material the particles at that end vibrate more (have more kinetic energy) and bump into the neighboring particles which causes them to vibrate more. They collide with their neighbors and so the energy passes from one particle to another through the material. Evaporation and condensation are two processes through which matter changes from one state to another. Matter can exist in three different states: solid, liquid, or gas. In evaporation, matter changes from a liquid to a gas. In condensation, matter changes from a gas to a liquid. All matter is made of tiny moving particles called molecules. Evaporation and condensation happen when these molecules gain or lose energy in the form of heat. Evaporation happens when a liquid is heated. The heat gives the liquids molecules more energy. This energy causes the molecules to move faster. If they gain enough energy, the molecules near the surface break away. These molecules escape the liquid and enter the air as gas. Condensation happens when molecules in a gas cool down. As the molecules lose heat, they lose energy. As a result they slow down. They move closer to other gas molecules. Finally these molecules collect together to form a liquid. The theoretical analysis and modeling of heat and mass transfer rates produced in evaporation and condensation processes are noteworthy concerns in a design of extensive range of industrial processes and devices. The book Evaporation, Condensation and Heat transfer emphasizes on the current issues of modeling on evaporation, water vapor condensation, heat transfer and exchanger, and on fluid flow in different aspects. The approaches would be applicable in various industrial purposes as well. The advanced idea and information described here will be fruitful for the readers to find a sustainable solution in an industrialized society..

process by looking at it at the molecular and atomic level.
In the first part methods of statistical physics, physical kinetics and
numerical modeling are outlined including the Maxwell’s distribution
function, the Boltzmann kinetic equation, the Vlasov approach, and the
CUDA technique.
The distribution functions of evaporating particles are then defined.
Experimental results on the evaporation coefficient and the temperature
jump on the evaporation surface are critically reviewed and compared to
the theory and numerical results presented in previous chapters.
The book ends with a chapter devoted to evaporation in different
processes, such as boiling and cavitation. This monograph addresses

Capillary Flows with Forming Interfaces explores numerous theoretical problems that arise in the mathematical description of capillary flows. It focuses on developing a unified approach to a variety of seemingly very different capillary flows of practical importance where classical fluid mechanics leads to nonphysical results.
The book begins with a review of the conceptual framework of fluid mechanics and then proceeds to analyze the roots of singularities, such as the moving contact-line problem and the capillary breakup problem. The author then examines how different singular flows can be described as particular cases of a general physical phenomenon of interface formation. He illustrates the developed mathematical models and experimentally verifies them through a number of example problems relevant to engineering applications. The conceptual framework provided in this reference enables further progress in developing mathematical models of capillary flows. The book also allows readers to make informed strategic choices regarding available numerical codes and the in-house development of these codes.
This book lays a unique and straightforward mathematical foundation on the aspects of liquid layers, capillary interfaces, floating drops and particles. For the first time, these topics are studied in a joint framework. Readers will acquire deeper comprehension and gain results. Practical interest are presented, making it beneficial to engineers and physicists as well as mathematicians.
The text takes an insight-oriented approach that gives it immediacy and flexibility. It contains 70 problems where some are exercises, while others are open problems. It is also illustrated with 95 figures and photographs for further understanding.

Описание: The goal of this monograph is to prove that any solution of the Cauchy problem for the capillary-gravity water waves equations, in one space dimension, with periodic, even in space, small and smooth enough initial data, is almost globally defined in time on Sobolev spaces, provided the gravity-capillarity parameters are taken outside an exceptional subset of zero measure. In contrast to the many results known for these equations on the real line, with decaying Cauchy data, one cannot make use of dispersive properties of the linear flow. Instead, a normal forms-based procedure is used, eliminating those contributions to the Sobolev energy that are of lower degree of homogeneity in the solution. Since the water waves equations form a quasi-linear system, the usual normal forms approaches would face the well-known problem of losses of derivatives in the unbounded transformations. To overcome this, after a paralinearization of the capillary-gravity water waves equations, we perform several paradifferential reductions to obtain a diagonal system with constant coefficient symbols, up to smoothing remainders. Then we start with a normal form procedure where the small divisors are compensated by the previous paradifferential regularization. The reversible structure of the water waves equations, and the fact that we seek solutions even in space, guarantees a key cancellation which prevents the growth of the Sobolev norms of the solutions.
