Описание: Many patients with pulmonary complaints fail to improve despite physicians’ best efforts. Sometimes, we ascribe this failure to lack of adherence with therapy, or to the severity of the condition. What we often fail to appreciate, however, is that sometimes the lack of improvement can be explained by the patients' psychological states.  The first section of Functional Respiratory Disorders: When Respiratory Symptoms Do Not Respond to Pulmonary Treatment will help clinicians recognize functional respiratory symptoms that can arise as a result of both organic and psychological causes.  The second section of this book provides detailed discussions of such disorders, links to video examples of laryngoscopic evaluation of patients with vocal cord issues, case studies and quizzes.  Examples and exercises that should strengthen the clinician’s confidence in identifying and treating these functional conditions are also provided.  Finally, the third section of the book will help the clinician differentiate the patients for whom referral to a mental health provider is mandatory from those for whom other approaches may be useful. For the latter group, the book teaches clinicians to empower themselves by learning how to incorporate various therapies for functional disorders into their practice, including biofeedback, breathing techniques, basic cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, and hypnosis. Links are provided to instructive video examples of biofeedback, hypnosis, and speech therapy.  Practical strategies for obtaining training in these modalities are provided in the appendix.  Functional Respiratory Disorders: When Respiratory Symptoms Do Not Respond to Pulmonary Treatment is an important new book that will help clinicians consider the possible impact of functional contributions to the clinical presentation of every patient with respiratory symptoms and identified respiratory disease.

Описание:

With foreword by Richard DuFour and Rebecca DuFour

Transforming School Culture provides a school improvement plan for leaders to overcome staff division, improve relationships, and transform toxic school cultures into healthy ones.

Dr. Anthony Muhammad contends that in order to transform school culture, we must understand why teachers continue to hold on to models or beliefs contrary to those put forth by their school or district. He explores the human behavior, social conditions, and history that cause the underlying conflict among the four different types of teachers in a school.

The second edition of this best-selling resource delivers powerful new insight into the four types of educators (Believers, Fundamentalists, Tweeners, and Survivors) and how school leaders can work with each group to create positive school culture. The book also includes Dr. Muhammad's latest research as well as a new chapter dedicated to answering frequently asked questions on culture and school leadership in education.

How this new edition will help you create a positive school culture:

  • Study the author's research and observations of 34 schools--11 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, and 9 high schools--and how each school's staff supported or hindered student achievement.
  • Consider the characteristics of positive school cultures and how your school's culture and climate may differ.
  • Learn how laws such as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and No Child Left Behind ( NCLB) impact teachers and school culture.
  • Understand why teachers must work together to improve student performance.
  • Obtain tips for creating a positive school culture and producing synergy.

New in This Second Edition:

  • An updated research base, including over 60 new references
  • Connections to ESSA as well as reflections on NCLB's impact on education
  • Additional insights into the four types of educators
  • Further guidance on what it takes to be a transformational leader and redirect Fundamentalists through communication, trust, capacity, and accountability
  • A new chapter of frequently asked questions in regard to school culture, leadership, and the four types of educators

Описание:

The 3rd edition of this wildly popular bestseller has the same content as the previous two. The difference is in the sequencing of the Parts and Chapters. The change was made to accommodate how people use the book. We hope works for you.

Research with thousands of salespeople across industries demonstrates:

  • Objections that stop almost all sales are common and repetitive.
  • Specific Buyer Beliefs, when missing or weak cause these objections.
  • There are many ways to establish these beliefs to prevent the objection from even entering the prospect's mind.

Test this:

  • Before you buy something, this book for example, what is one thing must you believe about it?
  • If you don't believe that, what objection comes to mind?
  • But, if you did believe that, what happens to the objection?
  • You just demonstrated that a missing Buyer Belief caused the objection and that when the belief is in place, the objection goes away.

Analysis reveals:

  • There are 10 of these critical Buyer Beliefs in which you can categorize all sales objections.
  • You get most of your objections in just three to five categories of missing Buyer Beliefs.
  • Learning how to prevent, preempt, and respond to a few objections in each category will handle all objections in that category.
  • It doesn't matter which sales model you are using if you're still getting objections.
  • The strategies and formulas provided work with all sales models.

In this book:

  • This book provides hundreds of examples of how to prevent, preempt, and respond to each of the 85 most common sales stopping objections. They are categorized by the missing Buyer Beliefs so you can easily find the ones you
  • Scan the list and make a note of those that are similar to the ones you get. Look them up in the book and personalize the recommendations to your sales situation.
  • All the selling skills necessary to implement every recommendation are included in the book.

Right now:

  • If you are actively engaged in selling, probability has it that you are facing sales stopping or stalling objections, the answers to which are in this book.
  • Could these potentially stalled or lost sales be enough to cost-justify the price of this book?

Описание: In this comprehensive playbook, Strategy in the Digital Age: How to Disrupt or Respond to Disruptors, boards, CEOs, business leaders, executives, MBAs, consultants, incumbents, and startups will master the game-changing strategies for winning through rare insights, practical strategy and disruption frameworks, such as "The Disruption Barometer for Strategic Responses" and "The Strategy Equation."

  • Incumbents will discover the powerful tools for beating disruptors and challengers at their own game while building the agile, digital, and analytics capabilities to deliver the sought-after customer experiences to become future-ready
  • Startups and challengers will learn how to upend an industry leader in our networked world through our systematic framework "The 5-Step Model to Disrupting a Digital Platform Leader"
  • Companies will discover the time-tested approaches to be digital-first firms while discovering the pitfalls and roadblocks hindering their digital transformation across industries such as banking, health care, and retail through several case studies spanning industries, countries, and continents
  • Fintechs (mobile banking and payment firms, etc.) will learn the key insights to disrupt the financial industry verticals and win in an increasingly fragmented landscape. Banks will discover what they need to respond to the emerging challengers wanting to eat their lunch
  • Key players across the health care ecosystems will deepen their understanding of the disruptive forces and what strategies they need to thrive rather than survive in the emerging yet competitive digital health care across the globe
  • Business leaders will master how to build a winning culture for the digital age to execute their strategies through case studies of Amazon and SoftBank. In addition, they will discover several data-driven models for aligning their culture to their strategies

Indeed, in today's dangerous and unpredictable geopolitical environment, where trade war is becoming the new normal, businesses' fates increasingly depend on just one tweet from a president, nonmarket forces such as Brexit, activists, and EU General Data Protection Regulations and Europe Second Payments Directive (PSD2) can create winners and losers across industries such as banking overnight -- CEOs and other business leaders need a new dynamic formula to win. Market strategies alone as taught in many business schools are no longer enough; firms need to scale agility regarding what they can control at the firm level and build a dynamic scenario planning for our volatile, uncertain, ambiguous, and complex (VUCA) world. Yet they need nonmarket strategies to deter potential threats from nonmarket actors before they become a full-blown crisis or hamper their organization's competitive edge. We will discuss all at these strategies, techniques, tools, and models in greater detail throughout the book.
