Er dokumentiert damit aus der Perspektive der wissenschaftlichen Korrespondenz jene bedeutende Phase, in der Leibniz, in Vertiefung der Auseinandersetzung mit der cartesianischen Philosophie, bei der Fundierung und Ausformulierung seiner physikalischen und metaphysischen Theorien einen Punkt erreicht, der es ihm ermoglicht, mit seinem nun auch explizit als ein solches bezeichnetem System an die Offentlichkeit zu treten. Dies geschieht, die enge Verbindung von Kraft- und Substanzbegriff und damit von Dynamik und Metaphysik belegend, in zwei zeitnah 1695 erscheinenden Schriften, dem „Specimen dynamicum“ und dem „Systeme nouveau de la nature et de la communication des substances“, deren Thesen in mehreren Korrespondenzen (J. Chr. Sturm, Basnage, Cousin, Foucher) intensiv diskutiert werden.
