Описание: This book examines the types of problems and constraints faced by specialists in the areas of security, medicine, mental health, aviation and engineering. Every day we rely on highly trained specialists to solve complex problems in high-stakes environments, that is, environments involving direct threats to the preservation of human life. While previous work has tended to focus on problem solving in a single domain, this book covers multiple, related domains. It is divided into three parts, the first of which addresses the theoretical foundations, with coverage of theories of instructional design and expertise. Part two covers the five high-stakes domains and offers directions for training in these domains. In turn, part three provides practical guidelines for instructional design in high-stakes professions, including learner analysis, task analysis, assessment and evaluation. The book is intended for a broad readership, including those who operate in high-stress, time-pressure occupations. Trainers at professional organisations can utilise the theoretical frameworks and training strategies discussed in this book when preparing their clients for complex, real-world problem solving. Further, the book offers a valuable resource for academics and graduate students, as well as anyone with an interest in problem solving.

Описание: In far too many classrooms, the emphasis is on instructional strategies that teachers employ rather than on what students should be doing or thinking about as part of their learning. What's more, students' minds are something of a mysterious ""black box"" for most teachers, so when learning breaks down, they're not sure what went wrong or what to do differently to help students learn.
It doesn't have to be this way. Learning That Sticks helps you look inside that black box. Bryan Goodwin and his coauthors unpack the cognitive science underlying research-supported learning strategies so you can sequence them into experiences that challenge, inspire, and engage your students. As a result, you'll learn to teach with more intentionality—understanding not just what to do but also when and why to do it.
By way of an easy-to-use six-phase model of learning, this book:
Analyzes how the brain reacts to, stores, and retrieves new information.
Helps you ""zoom out"" to understand the process of learning from beginning to end.
Helps you ""zoom in"" to see what's going on in students' minds during each phase.
Learning may be complicated, but learning about learning doesn't have to be. And to that end, Learning That Sticks helps shine a light into all the black boxes in your classroom and make your practice the most powerful it can be.

An online course is a training program that is delivered on the Internet so that people can access the training irrespective of where they live. They don't have to travel to a particular location to access the training program, and they can watch it from the comfort of their homes or while they are in a moving vehicle as long as they have a device that has access to the internet. They can also watch the training from their smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
An online course consists of pre-recorded lessons which could be in video, audio, or text format. They are usually arranged sequentially in an easy-to-follow manner so that anybody taking the course can easily understand what is being taught.
This book covers:
Brief History of Online Courses
Reasons to Create an Online Course Today
Challenges of Online Education
Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Choose a Niche
Course Objectives
How to Structure the Course
Course Creation Phase
Course Lecture Outline
Finding Where to Make Corrections
Setting Up the Online Course Business
Best Platform to Publish the Course
Market the Course
Useful Tools
...And so much more
There are two major types of online courses: mini-courses and transformational courses.
Mini-courses focus on helping students learn a skill or make slight improvements. They usually consist of only lessons, PDF workbooks, and resource guides as the participants would be expected to go through the lessons on their own.
Transformational courses, on the other hand, focus on helping the students to go through a complete transformation. Every step of the way, they need some form of additional support and mentoring from the course creator. In addition to the lessons, workbooks, and resource guides, the course creator would be expected to be available to answer questions and give feedback.
The length of time it will take your student to go through your online course is usually dependent on what type of online course it is.
Mini-courses are not complicated and the lessons can be consumed in a short period. Transformational courses take more time because it takes a while to get people to change. A good one should last for 60 - 90 days.
Anything longer than 90 days is usually too long, as your students might get tired or lose interest.
Google is undoubtedly one of the best things that happened in our lifetime, but it is only a search engine. It curates information. Anytime you search for a phrase, it gives you too much information, and many times, people don't know where to start from or which of the information is relevant.
In the fast-paced society we live in, a lot of people are looking for exact systems and formulas that can help them get the results they desperately need.
They don't have the time to search through all the information they find on Google, testing them out one after the other, to see which will work and which ones won't.
They are looking for exact results and a proven system to help them get those results. This is what online courses offer.

Описание: The explosion of digital technologies in the 21st century provided access to multiple robust inquiry, communication, and collaboration applications. The enhanced capabilities provide educational opportunities for engaging students in deeper and more thoughtful learning. Implementation of knowledge-building communities in educational experiences, however, requires new pedagogical strategies that are vastly different from the predominant teacher-directed pedagogies of the 20th century. Today's teachers now must identify, orchestrate, and manage activities in their content areas in ways that successfully support students through activities such as engagement in knowledge-building communities. Blended Online Learning and Instructional Design for TPACK: Emerging Research and Opportunities is an essential research publication that examines the implementation of knowledge-building communities in educational experiences and pedagogical strategies that encourage engagement. Highlighting topics such as active participation, digital technologies, and online learning, this book is geared toward educators, educational designers, researchers, administrators, and academicians.
