In an aim to promote an interdisciplinary and intercultural scientific dialog young graduates of diverse disciplines have tackled the task of intensive investigation into «cultures in dialogue» as it relates to issues of international as well as regional relevance. In an attempt to motivate dialogue across language barriers all contributions provide abstracts in the three languages: German, Italian and English. The descriptive part of the collected edition provides an overview of diverse aspects of the phenomenon of a multicultural society in South Tyrol. The constructive aspect of the volume pursues the following goal: it creates moments of encounter, of intersubjective as well as interdisciplinary dialogue and lays the basis for a theoretical foundation of practical forms of dialogic problem analysis and problem solving.
Автор: Adrian J Wallbank Название: Dialogue, Didacticism and the Genres of Dispute: Literary Dialogues in the Age of Revolution ISBN: 1848932790 ISBN-13(EAN): 9781848932791 Издательство: Taylor&Francis Рейтинг: Цена: 153120.00 T Наличие на складе: Есть у поставщика Поставка под заказ. Dialogue was a pivotal genre for the spread of Enlightenment ideas. Focusing on non-canonical British writers Wallbank examines the evolution of dialogue as a genre during the Romantic period.
Exploring Diversity through Multimodality, Narrative, and Dialogue awakens educators to the ways in which values, beliefs, language use, culture, identity, social class, race, and other factors filter approaches to teaching and expectations for students. Designed as a guide to help educators engage in dialogic interactions, the text articulates a theoretically grounded and research-based framework related to the use of personal narratives as learning tools. Educators are encouraged to consider their own positions, explore topics of diversity and social justice, and identify ways to better address student needs.
Drawing on theories from multiliteracies, multimodality, embodiment, and narrative, chapters are framed around book discussions and the use of personal narrative to define and provide examples of dialogic interactions. Unique to this book is its focus on
embodied learning and multimodality as well as myriad artifacts produced by educators;
listening, not just dialogic talk;
writing (both traditional print texts and multimodal composition) that supports dialogic interaction; and
not merely responding to literature but developing empathic responses to texts, students, and others whose opinions may differ from one's own viewpoints.
The specific techniques and approaches presented can be used within educational and professional development settings to help readers enhance their journey toward greater awareness of others and of their own beliefs and experiences that lead toward social justice for all.

Offers an examination of seven disciplines within the humanities field which underwent a fundamental transformation. In order to apply `exact` scientific methods, these disciplines turned away from their very subjects and took a revisionist approach based on the work of Mikhail Bakhtin, tracing the search for common and specific grounds of the humanities.

Every storyteller soon discovers the difference between putting a story inside children and trying to extract it with comprehension questions and putting children inside a story and having them act it out. Teachers may experience this as a difference in “difficulty”, or in the level of motivation and enthusiasm, or even in the engagement of creativity and imagination, and leave it at that. This book explores the divide more critically and analytically, finding symmetrical and even complementary problems and affordances with both approaches. First, we examine what teachers actually say and do in each approach, using the systemic-functional grammar of M. A. K. Halliday. Secondly, we explore the differences developmentally, using the cultural-historical psychology of L. S. Vygotsky. Thirdly, we explain the differences we find in texts by considering the history of genres from the fable through the plays of Shakespeare. “Inside” and “Outside” the story turn out to be two very different modes of experiencing—the one reflective and narrativizing and the other participatory and dialogic. These two modes of experience prove to be equally valuable, and even mutually necessary, but only in the long run—different approaches are necessary at different moments in the lesson, different points in development, and even different times in human history. In the final analysis, though, this distinction is meaningless to children and to their teachers unless it is of practical use. Each chapter employs only the most advanced technology ever developed for making sense of human experience, namely thinking and talking—though not necessarily in that order. So every story has a specific narrative to tell, a concrete set of dialogues to try, and above all a practicable time and a practical space for children, their teachers, and even their teachers’ teachers, to talk and to think.
