Описание:

This book immerses the reader in the journey Jesus takes when He enters Jerusalem during the final week of His life and ministry. Each day the reader is transported back in time and into the moments with Jesus as He teaches the crowds, travels to familiar places in Jerusalem with His disciples, and confronts the religious leaders and Pharisees. Using familiar Scripture passages from the NET version of the Bible as the jumping off point, each day of Lent challenges the reader to consider what they know or believe about the events of Jesus last week on earth.

Much more than a devotional, At His Dusty Feet invites readers into each moment with Jesus to experience the events with Him as if they are one of the disciples. From the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, to the parables He tells the crowds and the confrontations He has with the Pharisees, readers are placed in the scene with Jesus and the narrator so readers take things in on a whole new and different level. To help facilitate this journey, other Scriptures are provided for deeper reflection and one day each week is set aside for Scripture reading and reflection.

As the reader makes her way along the dusty roads of Jerusalem to the Golgotha to witness the crucifixion of Jesus, the hope is to invite the reader into a deeper and more intimate relationship with Jesus. The thought-provoking observations encourage the reader also to see themselves in those they may not consider like them - Judas Iscariot, the Pharisees, Pontius Pilate, because even at our best, we all still have room to grow and become better versions of ourselves.

Would You Rather?: A Memoir of Growing Up and Coming Out

Описание: A collection of poignant, relatable essays from the author of Never Have I Ever about coming out in her late twenties, entering into her first relationship, and figuring out what it means to be an adult.

When Katie Heaney published her first book of essays, chronicling her singledom up to age twenty-five, she was still waiting to meet the right guy. Three years later, a lot changed. For one thing, she met the right girl.

Here, for the first time, Katie opens up about realizing that she is gay at the age of twenty-eight. In these poignant, funny essays, she wrestles with her shifting sexuality and identity, and describes what it was like coming out to everyone she knows (and everyone she doesn't). As she revisits her past, looking for any "clues" that might have predicted this outcome, Katie reveals that life doesn't always move directly from point A to point B--no matter how much we would like it to.

In a warm and relatable voice, Katie tackles everything from the trials of dating in New York City to the growing pains of her first relationship, from obsessing over Harry Styles (because, actually, he does look a bit like a lesbian) to learning to accept herself all over again. Exploring love and sexuality with her neurotic wit and endearing intimacy, Katie Heaney shares the message that it's never too late to find love-or yourself.

Advance praise for Would You Rather?

"Would You Rather? is an extraordinarily generous and affecting book. Katie Heaney has written something with a remarkable amount of room in it--enough for anyone to spread out and connect with. It's deeply felt, clear-eyed, joyful, and illuminating."--Mallory Ortberg, author of Texts from Jane Eyre: And Other Conversations with Your Favorite Literary Characters

"Whether you're single or in a relationship, whether you're queer, straight, or questioning, whether or not you're partial to Harry Styles--you will discover something relatable and self-affirming in this honest, heartfelt, hilarious memoir."--Camille Perri, author of The Assistants

Описание: A collection that elicits continuities and solidarities, between husband and wife, child and parent, then and now, inside an intently remembered present - the stepping stones of the day, the weight and heft of what is passed from hand to hand, lifted and lowered. It also broaches questions of transmission, as lifelines to the inherited past.

Описание: Are we allowed to choose where we belong? What pressures make us feel that we should belong somewhere? This book brings together four major poets—Heaney, Mahon, Zagajewski, and Hartwig—who ask themselves these questions throughout their lives. They start by assuming that we can choose not to belong, but know this is easier said than done. Something in them is awry, leading them to travel, emigrate, and return dissatisfied with all forms of belonging. Writer after writer has suggested that Polish and Irish literature bear some uncanny similarities, particularly in the twentieth century, but few have explored these similarities in depth. Ireland and Poland, with their tangled histories of colonization, place a large premium upon knowing one's place. What happens, though, when a poet makes a career out of refusing to know her place in the way her culture expects? This book explores the consequences of this refusal, allowing these poets to answer such questions through their own poems, leading to surprising conclusions about the connection of knowledge and belonging, roots and identity.
