Описание: The Kingdom of Watetu and Songaland is an autobiographical story about Mpeki, the princess of the Watetu tribe who realised early that FGM in her tribe was wrong and who sought out to bring about a change, a journey that caused her and her loved ones a lot of pain, because the Watetu tribe practised FGM while the neighbouring tribe, the Songa, appreciated sexuality. The differences that their cultures represented brought about a clash after the prince of Songaland assisted Princess Mpeki to run off after she hindered the mutilation of her sister. This started a rift between both tribes that resulted in the abduction of the prince of Songaland, and the princess`s sister, whose mutilation the princess had hindered, was bought back by the missionaries. The prince of Songaland ended in Portugal as a slave, making his father furious - reason for a war that lasted for two decades. It was finally after the abolition of slavery worldwide that the prince of Songaland came back with Mpeki and the missionaries who had travelled with her to help her evade her own mutilation. Upon the arrival of the prince, his father ordered him to leave the princess, claiming that she was cursed. In fact, the princess was not cursed as all had thought. It was through her sacrifices that the two tribes reunited, becoming one under the prince and princess`s rule in the new kingdom of Watetu and Songaland, a kingdom of peace, justice and harmony. The story ends with a bombastic marriage between the two tribes, the result of the eradication of FGM.
In the second volume of the letters of H. P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard, the two authors continue their wide-ranging discussion of such central issues as the relative value of barbarism and civilization, the virtues of the frontier and of settled city life, and other related issues. Lovecraft regales Howard with his extensive travels up and down the eastern seaboard, including trips to Quebec, Florida, and obscure corners of New England, while Howard writes engagingly of his own travels through the lonely stretches of Texas. Each has great praise for the other's writings in Weird Tales and elsewhere, and each conducts searching discussions of literature, philosophy, politics, and economics in the wake of the depression and Franklin D. Roosevelt's election. World affairs, including the rise of Hitler and Mussolini, also engage their attention.
All letters are exhaustively annotated by the editors, and the volume concludes with an extensive bibliography of both writers as well as the publication of a few letters to Lovecraft from Robert E. Howard's father, Dr. I. M. Howard, in the wake of his son's tragic and unexpected suicide.

It is safe to say that Donald Wandrei (1908-1987) was one of Lovecraft's leading correspondents. In 1924 Wandrei came in touch with his literary idol, Clark Ashton Smith, and two years later Smith referred him to Lovecraft. There began a rich, expansive communication in which both sides of the correspondence are preserved largely intact, allowing for an unprecedented glimpse into the life and beliefs of the two authors. Wandrei began as a fiery, cosmic poet in the tradition of Smith, but later took to writing weird fiction. He persuaded Farnsworth Wright of Weird Tales to accept Lovecraft's seminal tale "The Call of Cthulhu," just as Lovecraft urged Wright to take Wandrei's "The Red Brain." Lovecraft introduced Wandrei to his fellow Midwesterner August Derleth, and after Lovecraft's death they founded Arkham House to publish the work of Lovecraft and other writers of weird fiction.
Lovecraft came to believe that Donald Wandrei's brother Howard was a weird artist of the first order, and this volume features the letters and postcards they exchanged in the 1930s. Another late colleague, Emil Petaja, was of Finnish ancestry, and Lovecraft's letters to him are full of discussions into the fantasy fandom of that era along with his later beliefs on politics, society, and religion.
As with other volumes of the Letters of H. P. Lovecraft series, this book prints all surviving letters unabridged and with exhaustive annotations by David E. Schultz and S. T. Joshi. In addition, a rare interview of Donald Wandrei is included, along with poems, essays, and stories by Petaja.
