Catherine (Cathy) Napier received her her Bachelor's degree from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas and her Master's degree in counseling from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Cathy attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey for her post-graduate studies in addiction. Cathy has worked in some of the major psychiatric hospitals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Cathy left Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, where she was Director of the Chemical Dependency Program, in 2003 to work under Governor Bill Richardson's administration in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Cathy was director of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) substance abuse programs for the state of New Mexico for two years. Cathy was the Employee Assistance Manager for Behavioral Health Services for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad's Southwest Division. She worked part-time at Sierra Tucson, where her book, Operation Daughters Addicted, is being taught to those with a secondary diagnosis of disordered eating, and at Sabino Recovery, where she worked with those recovering from trauma. Both facilities are in Tucson, Arizona.
Cathy and Sandy came upon their unique insight into the little understood phenomenon of dual dependency through years of professional practice and clinical work in their individual specialties: Cathy as a therapist treating chemical dependency and Sandy as an R.N. treating eating disorders. Puzzled by the failures of otherwise excellent programs, the two began comparing notes and observations and discovered that treatment of one addiction, while apparently successful, was in fact feeding the growth of another, hidden addiction. This collaboration is the result of their discoveries and the joint effort to treat their patients for more than one addiction simultaneously. In these pages, Cathy and Sandy tell the brutally honest personal stories of a number of dually addicted people who they have treated, then take the reader through the processes by which their patients achieved awareness of the presence and dangers of the hidden addiction, and describe paths taken by these people to total recovery. Operation Daughters Addicted is written as if spoken to the individual reader, in a conversational and non-technical style. The reader is drawn into forging a path to her (or his) own recovery through a series of clearly defined steps leading to increased self-awareness and commitment to succeed. The Vickers Wellington was one of very few aircraft types to have been in production and frontline service throughout World War II, and more than 10,000 Wellingtons were built in the period. They took part in the first RAF bombing mission of the conflict when, on September 4, 1939, 14 examples from Nos 9 and 149 Sqns undertook a daring daylight attack on the Kiel Canal. However, after suffering high losses on follow-up raids, Wellingtons were withdrawn from daytime missions and began to operate at night from May 1940. They subsequently took part in raids against the Italian port city of Genoa in July 1940, and against Berlin the following month, followed by key missions in the "Battle of the Barges" in September and October, as the RAF targeted Germany's invasion fleet assembled in French Channel ports. When RAF's strike force expanded the next year following the introduction of the improved Wellington II, the 21 squadrons equipped with the Vickers aircraft, which included Polish-, Canadian-, and Australian-manned units, formed the backbone of the Bomber Command night bombing force. Over the next two years Wellingtons participated in all the major operations by Bomber Command, including the daylight raid against German battleships in Brest harbor in July 1942 and the first three "Thousand Bomber" raids in the summer of 1942.
