Lacy Anna Cassitelli is born in Woodstock, NY in the Catskill Mountains as a Baby Boomer in 1952. She grows up in a small mountain cottage built in the 1850's in a lowermiddle class, Catholic, Italian family with her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. It is life before computers, cell phones, seatbelts, shopping malls, and air conditioning. The Cassitelli's have a ground well for running water and electricity. However, these amenities quit working as often as the family's old vacuum tube, black and white TV and the oil burning stove that they gather around in their small living room. They have an in-house toilet which has replaced the old rickety out-house, a luxury many homes on their mountain road do not possess. The Cassitelli's begin life with little money, yet they are a content, hardworking, and social group, who eventually become quite successful.
Under the umbrella of a pair of strong-willed, loving parents and, later, a new house built in the sixties full of kids and an array of critters and pets; Lacy blossoms into a smart, well-liked, and stunning teenager. One special virtue which is not accessible to everyone will eventually open doors for Lacy. She is aware and thankful for this gift. Lacy's mom, a housewife like many other moms, is extremely influential to who Lacy becomes.
Lacy is living the American dream and enjoying all that the beautiful Catskills surrounding her have to offer. Growing up in Woodstock means music is in her blood and also a big part of her life... and soon, so are boys. She becomes aware Woodstock is not just a typical small American town; it is an artist colony and much more. She attends the mother of all music festivals on her 17th birthday in August, 1969. It is there that Lacy discovers nirvana with the love of her life. Suddenly, her life is shattered by an event so painful it will take her family, her friends, her village, and her music to save her from self-destruction.
On Lacy's quest to heal and begin life again, she embarks on a venture around the United States and visits a very special place. Eventually, she will come back home to settle in Woodstock. Lacy records her journey and adventures through life in her diary.
As Lacy heads into her golden years, an event occurs so astounding, so astonishing, it becomes world-wide news. She writes a popular book about her life and even Hollywood comes calling. A now famous, worldwide director (then an un-known young man who manned a movie camera in 1969 on the original film "Woodstock") will take Lacy's life story and put it on the silver screen.
The rest is ...history.
