I CHEATED
One night my cousin called me up crying. I could hear in her voice this was one of those ugly cries and she was hurting. She began to tell me how the guy she was with hurt her for the one-hundredth time. After listening to her tell me what was going on I asked her one simple question, "Are you going to leave?" She replied with a simple no. I immediately started going off telling her how being around me and related to me she should know the game by now. The phone was on speaker and I was going off. The girl I was dating at the time was in the other room hearing the entire conversation. I continued to tell her that she was too good to go through that and that the man would continue to treat her this way because he knew she wasn't going to go anywhere.
My girl walked quietly in the room and said to me, "You may want to get off the damn phone " The look she had in her eyes told me I needed not to test those waters in this moment so I got off the phone. With a crackle of hurt in her voice and tears rolling down her cheeks she told me, "The same thing you're going off on her about and why you're frustrated with her for allowing this is exactly what you do to me." That cut deep because the man I thought I was in my head didn't line up with the man I actually was in real life. Those words cut me to the point all I could do is let that cut bleed while I thought about all the women who had dealt with me. At this point in my life I couldn't offer a woman anything. I was broke to the point I couldn't even provide a woman with a coke and a smile even if I wanted too. The women I would deal with made well over 6 figures.
Then it hit me, the women were so conditioned to being damaged that they didn't recognize their true worth. While still bleeding from the cut of her words she handed me the phone and it was my daughter calling. The last thing she said cut me even deeper sending a cold chill down my spine.
