Risulta esplicito, nella riflessione culturale dei principali esponenti della cerchia corazziniana, come sia necessario diventare «allievi» di una tradizione europea e come, nella ricerca di «maestri» che fornissero dignita e statuto letterario al gruppo, i simbolisti belgi, per affi nita di pensiero, atmosfere e linguaggio poetico, fossero stati individuati quali riferimenti principali.
