Описание: The history of flight control is inseparably associated to the history of aviation itself. Since the early period, the concept of automatic flight control systems has progressed from mechanical control systems to highly advanced automatic fly-by-wire flight control systems which can be found nowadays in military jets and civil airliners. A conventional fixed-wing aircraft flight control system consists of flight control surfaces, the respective cockpit controls, connecting linkages, and the necessary operating mechanisms to control an aircrafts direction in flight. Aircraft engine controls are also considered as flight controls as they change speed. An autopilot is a system used to control the trajectory of a vehicle without constant hands-on control by a human operator being required. Autopilots do not replace a human operator, but assist them in controlling the vehicle, allowing them to focus on broader aspects of operation, such as monitoring the trajectory, weather and systems. Autopilots are used in aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, and others. Autopilots have evolved significantly over time, from early autopilots that merely held an attitude to modern autopilots capable of performing automated landings under the supervision of a pilot. The autopilot in a modern large aircraft typically reads its position and the aircrafts attitude from an inertial guidance system. The book emphases on a selection of significant research areas, such as inertial navigation, control of unmanned aircraft and helicopters, trajectory control of an unmanned space re-entry vehicle, aeroservoelastic control, adaptive flight control, and fault tolerant flight control.

Описание: People became interested in vibration when they created the first musical instruments, probably whistles or drums. Since then, both musicians and philosophers have sought out the rules and laws of sound production, used them in improving musical instruments, and passed them on from generation to generation. Vibration refers to periodic back-and-forth motion of the particles of an elastic body or medium, commonly resulting when almost any physical system is displaced from its equilibrium condition and allowed to respond to the forces that tend to restore equilibrium. Vibrations fall into two categories: free and forced. Free vibrations occur when the system is disturbed momentarily and then allowed to move without restraint. The vibrations of a spring are of a particularly simple kind known as simple harmonic motion (SHM). Forced vibrations occur if a system is continuously driven by an external agency. A simple example is a childs swing that is pushed on each downswing. Of special interest are systems undergoing SHM and driven by sinusoidal forcing. Vibration Analysis (VA), applied in an industrial or maintenance environment aims to reduce maintenance costs and equipment downtime by detecting equipment faults. VA is a key component of a Condition Monitoring (CM) program, and is often referred to as Predictive Maintenance (PdM). Most commonly VA is used to detect faults in rotating equipment (Fans, Motors, Pumps, and Gearboxes etc.) such as Unbalance, Misalignment, rolling element bearing faults and resonance conditions. This book focuses on the important and diverse field of vibration analysis and control.
