The book provides highly specialized researchers and practitioners with a major contribution to mathematical models’ developments for energy systems. First, dynamic process simulation models based on mixture flow and two-fluid models are developed for combined-cycle power plants, pulverised coal-fired power plants, concentrated solar power plant and municipal waste incineration. Operation data, obtained from different power stations, are used to investigate the capability of dynamic models to predict the behaviour of real processes and to analyse the influence of modeling assumptions on simulation results. Then, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation programme, so-called DEMEST, is developed. Here, the fluid-solid, particle-particle and particle-wall interactions are modeled by tracking all individual particles. To this purpose, the deterministic Euler-Lagrange/Discrete Element Method (DEM) is applied and further improved. An emphasis is given to the determination of inter-phase values, such as volumetric void fraction, momentum and heat transfers, using a new procedure known as the offset-method and to the particle-grid method allowing the refinement of the grid resolution independently from particle size. Model validation is described in detail. Moreover, thermochemical reaction models for solid fuel combustion are developed based on quasi-single-phase, two-fluid and Euler-Lagrange/MP-PIC models. Measurements obtained from actual power plants are used for validation and comparison of the developed numerical models.
Electric power and the evolution of utilities fueled the growth of industrialization and the incredible innovation of the 20th century by allowing companies to focus on what they where best at rather than the generation and management of power.
That's exactly what's happening today as an almost unimaginable abundance of data is moving into the cloud where it will fuel the revolution in artificial intelligence and machine learning. However, most people are still using an industrial age lens, built on the economics of scarcity, to view the opportunities that the cloud creates for a future of limitless data; it's the equivalent of trying to compete using waterwheels to power a modern factory.
The Bottomless Cloud challenges the scarcity-driven mindset by taking a hard look at how industrial age business models are failing us by regarding data as a commodity and a cost that needs to be constrained, rather than an near infinite resource that can be mined to build entirely new sources of value and insight. From Uber, to Nike, to Netflix, The Bottomless Cloud is defining the tenets of success in the 21st Century by changing the way we view data, from being a byproduct of business to a foundational driver of radically new business models.
On the heels of his Amazon bestselling book Revealing The Invisible, 11 time author Tom Koulopoulos has teamed up with his long time colleague and serial entrepreneur David Friend to provide business leaders with a clear and straightforward understanding of the incredible power of the cloud and data abundance; it's an entirely new way to think about the value and the role of data in building tomorrow's enterprise.
Written in a way that is easy to follow, The Bottomless Cloud provides a compelling vision of a future in which data abundance will alter nearly every aspect of how we live, work, and play.

Описание: The use of cyber-physical systems in recent computing, communication, and control methods to design and operate intelligent and autonomous systems using cutting-edge technologies has led to many advances. By studying emerging trends in these systems, programming techniques can be optimized and strengthened to create a higher level of effectiveness.Cyber-Physical Systems for Next-Generation Networks provides emerging research on using cyber-physical systems (CPS) as a method to control design and operation of intelligent systems through next-generation networks. While highlighting issues such as increasing CPS complexity due to components within physical and industrial systems, this publication explores information on real-time sensing, reasoning, and adaptation for cyber-physical systems while gaining an understanding of evolutionary computing for it. This book is a valuable resource for engineers, academicians, researchers, and graduate-level students seeking current research on CPS in cutting-edge technologies.
Автор: Arthur M Langer Название: Analysis and Design of Next-Generation Software Architectures ISBN: 303036898X ISBN-13(EAN): 9783030368982 Издательство: Springer Рейтинг: Цена: 46570.00 T Наличие на складе: Поставка под заказ. Описание: This book provides a detailed “how-to” guide, addressing aspects ranging from analysis and design to the implementation of applications, which need to be integrated within legacy applications and databases. The analysis and design of the next generation of software architectures must address the new requirements to accommodate the Internet of things (IoT), cybersecurity, blockchain networks, cloud, and quantum computer technologies. As 5G wireless increasingly establishes itself over the next few years, moving legacy applications into these new architectures will be critical for companies to compete in a consumer-driven and social media-based economy. Few organizations, however, understand the challenges and complexities of moving from a central database legacy architecture to a ledger and networked environment. The challenge is not limited to just designing new software applications. Indeed, the next generation needs to function more independently on various devices, and on more diverse and wireless-centric networks. Furthermore, databases must be broken down into linked list-based blockchain architectures, which will involve analytic decisions regarding which portions of data and metadata will be processed within the chain, and which ones will be dependent on cloud systems. Finally, the collection of all data throughout these vast networks will need to be aggregated and used for predictive analysis across a variety of competitive business applications in a secured environment. Certainly not an easy task for any analyst/designer!Many organizations will continue to use packaged products and open-source applications. These third-party products will need to be integrated into the new architecture paradigms and have seamless data aggregation capabilities, while maintaining the necessary cyber compliances. The book also clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders involved, including the IT departments, users, executive sponsors, and third-party vendors. The book’s structure also provides a step-by-step method to help ensure a higher rate of success in the context of re-engineering existing applications and databases, as well as selecting third-party products, conversion methods and cybercontrols. It was written for use by a broad audience, including IT developers, software engineers, application vendors, business line managers, and executives.

Описание: This book highlights state-of-the-art research on big data and the Internet of Things (IoT), along with related areas to ensure efficient and Internet-compatible IoT systems. It not only discusses big data security and privacy challenges, but also energy-efficient approaches to improving virtual machine placement in cloud computing environments. Big data and the Internet of Things (IoT) are ultimately two sides of the same coin, yet extracting, analyzing and managing IoT data poses a serious challenge. Accordingly, proper analytics infrastructures/platforms should be used to analyze IoT data. Information technology (IT) allows people to upload, retrieve, store and collect information, which ultimately forms big data. The use of big data analytics has grown tremendously in just the past few years. At the same time, the IoT has entered the public consciousness, sparking people’s imaginations as to what a fully connected world can offer. Further, the book discusses the analysis of real-time big data to derive actionable intelligence in enterprise applications in several domains, such as in industry and agriculture. It explores possible automated solutions in daily life, including structures for smart cities and automated home systems based on IoT technology, as well as health care systems that manage large amounts of data (big data) to improve clinical decisions. The book addresses the security and privacy of the IoT and big data technologies, while also revealing the impact of IoT technologies on several scenarios in smart cities design. Intended as a comprehensive introduction, it offers in-depth analysis and provides scientists, engineers and professionals the latest techniques, frameworks and strategies used in IoT and big data technologies.
