Описание: ARE YOU READY FOR AN ELEMENTS BOOK THAT BREAKS ALL THE RULES?
This book breaks new ground by doing something for digital photographers thats never been done before-it cuts through the bull and shows you exactly how to do it. Its not a bunch of theory; it doesnt challenge you to come up with your own settings or figure things out on your own. Instead, it does something that virtually no other Elements book has ever done-it tells you flat-out which settings to use, when to use them, and why.
If youre looking for one of those tell-me-everything-about-the-Unsharp-Mask-filter books, this isnt it. You can grab any other Elements book on the shelf, because they all do that. Instead, this book gives you the inside tips and tricks of the trade for organizing, correcting, editing, sharpening, retouching, and printing your photos like a pro. Youll be absolutely amazed at how easy and effective these techniques are-once you know the secrets.
LEARN HOW THE PROS DO IT
Each year Scott trains thousands of digital photographers and, almost without exception, they have the same questions and face the same problems-thats exactly what he covers in this book. Youll learn:
  • How to unlock the power of layers (youll be amazed at how easy it is )
  • How to use Camera Raw for processing not only RAW photos, but JPEGs, TIFFs, and PSDs too (And youll learn why so many pros like it best-because its faster and easier)
  • The sharpening techniques the pros really use (theres an entire chapter just on this )
  • How to deal with common digital camera image problems, including brightening people in dark shadows and getting the best color possible
  • The most requested photographic special effects, and much more
THE BOOKS SECRET WEAPON
Although Elements 2020 offers some digital photography features that Photoshop doesnt offer, there are plenty of features that Photoshop has that Elements 2020 doesnt (like channels, HDR, etc.). But in this book, youll learn some slick workarounds, cheats, and fairly ingenious ways to replicate many of those Photoshop features right within Elements. Plus, you can download many of the images used in the book, so you can follow right along with the techniques.
Since this book is designed for photographers, it doesnt waste your time talking about what a pixel is, how to frame a shot or set your exposure, etc., and theres no talk about which camera or printer to buy. Its all Elements, step by step, cover to cover, in the only book of its kind, and youre gonna love it

Описание: Sexual Deceit is an extended ethical analysis of the phenomenon of sexual identity passing - i.e. socially presenting as X, when one understands oneself as Y, where the variables represent any contemporary sexual identity - alongside identity passing in the contexts of race, gender, and briefly, religion and class. The analysis of passing utilizes and challenges traditional moral understandings of identity falsification, complicating our understandings of moral obligations under systemic oppression. Tracing the intervention of social construction theory on contemporary political understandings of LGBT communities and activism, Sexual Deceit argues against social construction models of identity - notably performativity, promulgated by the work of Judith Butler and consumed and repeated by many scholars and theory educated queer people. A new model of identity is constructed, based on a phenomenological concept of style that provides for a socially adjustable yet rooted notion of sexual identity. The ethical implications of sexual identity passing are considered in the context of eschatological images of social justice and within practical matters such as military service, leadership, and sexual harassment law.

Описание: Standing in front of a room packed with 360 photographers at his seminar, Scott Kelby asked for a show of hands: "How many of you own some kind of an off-camera flash? A Nikon, Canon, Yongnuo, etc.?" About 340 hands went up. "Okay, I have one more question, but before you raise your hand, I want you to really think about your answer. Let's see a show of hands--how many of you love using your off-camera flash?" Out of those 360 people, just four people raised their hands. He was stunned.

Sadly, the results were similar in city after city, even in different countries. It's like we all bought a flash during the "hot shoe flash revolution" of 2008-2011, but we're not getting the results we got them for in the first place. Not even close. We don't "love" our flashes, and worse yet, in many cases, we've even stopped using them altogether. But it doesn't have to be that way. You just need somebody to help you unlock the real secrets to getting beautiful, consistent, and easily repeatable results.

That's why The Flash Book book was created--to help you finally fall in love with your flash--and the best news is, it's way easier than you'd think. In fact, you'll be surprised at how simple it really can be because you're not going to learn a bunch of geeky flash stuff, and you're not going to have to do math, and you're not going to need a light meter (it's not that kind of book). Instead, you're going to learn an amazingly simple system--one that Scott has been using for years--and the best thing about this system is that it's so darn easy (it's probably very different from what you might have seen "on the Internet," but this system works, and once you try it, you'll become a believer).

Here's how the book works: Each idea or technique is just one page, and it starts from scratch, taking you through the flash settings (just the few simple ones you actually need to know); the camera settings (Scott gives you his own settings, and you might not even need to change them during your shoot); and which affordable accessories you really need to start using flash like a pro.

This isn't a book of theory, full of confusing jargon and complicated concepts. This is a book on which settings to use, and exactly how and when to use them. The whole book is written in Scott's plain-English, down-to-earth style, which makes the experience more like the two of you are out together on a shoot. It's time to fall truly head-over-heels in love with your flash, so you can start creating the type of images with your flash that you've always dreamed of, and this is the book that can take you there.

Описание: Water played an important part of ancient Roman life, from providing necessary drinking water, supplying bath complexes, to flowing in large-scale public fountains. The Roman culture of water was seen throughout the Roman Empire, although it was certainly not monolithic and it could come in a variety of scales and forms, based on climatic and social conditions of different areas. This discussion seeks to define ‘water culture’ in Roman society by examining literary, epigraphic, and archaeological evidence, while understanding modern trends in scholarship related to the study of Roman water. The culture of water can be demonstrated through expressions of power, aesthetics, and spectacle. Further there was a shared experience of water in the empire that could be expressed through religion, landscape, and water’s role in cultures of consumption and pleasure.
