The Four R's of Emmajoy tell of the memoirs of a child who grew up in the 1950's. She writes about her parents and their marriages to each another and then reflects on her parents' divorce and subsequent second marriages.
As a young child, she witnessed the depression of her mother, the neglect and physical abuse of her brother and eventually the same plight to her other siblings. She grew up far too fast as she was forced to step-up and fill her mother's role as a care giver.
At the age of seven, (and then again in her early twenty's) she dedicated her life to Jesus and developed a strong and deep prayer life. This faith bought her through neglect, hunger, physical and sexual abuse, and gave her the strength to continue to take care of her many siblings.
