Through the book, she learns to be more open to new things and finally finds many perks to living in America. As an author, Meimeis story is something that could have happened to me. My parents are from China and moved to America, where I was born. However, if things happened differently, I could have found myself in Meimeis shoes. In my home, we still have many chinese customs and traditions which I share with my American friends. Like Meimei, I am still learning new things about America and finding embracing the cultural differences.
