His celebrated drama Death's Jest-Book and his Collected Poems were published posthumously. This volume, edited and with an introduction by Alan Halsey, makes available separately for the first time the surviving text and fragments of Beddoes' unfinished work The Ivory Gate, together with a collection of his later poetry.

On Jews:
"Jews grow not only in number, living longer and dying less readily than the Gentiles among whom they dwell, but they are gradually attracting to themselves the whole moveable wealth of the earth; and wealth is power, and the world must move or halt as wealth bids it.
