La presente obra recoge un conjunto de trabajos de investigaci n que contienen diferentes puntos de vista y aproximaciones al tema de la normalizaci n de los nombres de lugar en Espa a. La normalizaci n topon mica en este pa s es un mbito todav a muy poco desarrollado y sobre todo presenta enormes diferencias entre las diversas regiones. Mientras que en las comunidades que tienen lenguas propias existe una considerable tradici n y ya se ha llevado a cabo esta labor en gran medida gracias al apoyo decidido de las autoridades administrativas, en las comunidades predominante o exclusivamente castellanohablantes, que abarcan el territorio con mucho m s extenso del estado espa ol, tal tarea constituye hoy por hoy una asignatura pendiente. Este libro, que se publica en el marco de un proyecto de investigaci n financiado por el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovaci n de Espa a (el proyecto PRONORMA, cuya investigadora principal y responsable es la Dra. Gord n, coordinadora del presente volumen), se propone dar un impulso decisivo a la labor de recopilaci n e investigaci n, de regulaci n y fijaci n de la toponimia en el pa s, y ya no solo de la mayor, sino sobre todo y muy principalmente de la toponimia menor. En la obra se trata de sentar las bases te ricas en el tema de la normalizaci n topon mica partiendo de la exposici n de las ideas, las diferentes perspectivas y las experiencias en materia de normalizaci n por parte de los m s reconocidos expertos en el tema que trabajan en distintas reas ling sticas del estado espa ol. Tienen una representaci n destacada las reas que cuentan con lenguas propias adem s del castellano, precisamente las que est n m s avanzadas en este terreno, y el rea castellana monoling e puede beneficiarse de la experiencia acumulada en estas otras regiones. Se recogen, pues, en este lugar, distintos puntos de vista ante el tema de la regulaci n de los nombres de lugar, precisamente porque no existe una doctrina nica. Se trata, efectivamente de contrastar diversos enfoques, e incluso diferentes opiniones, dado que la problem tica es hasta cierto punto espec fica de cada regi n, y a trav s de la contraposici n de perspectivas surge precisamente el debate cient fico que posibilita el avance en el conocimiento. Esta obra resulta del mayor inter s para ling istas, m s concretamente para expertos en Onom stica y Toponimia, pero tambi n para especialistas en Dialectolog a, Socioling stica, Pol tica Ling stica, Ling stica Hist rica, Historia de la Lengua, Ling stica Rom nica, y de otra parte, y no en menor medida, para ge grafos, cart grafos, historiadores, funcionarios de las administraciones p blicas, juristas, etc.
Mar a Dolores Gord n Peral es Catedr tica de Lengua Espa ola (Dialectolog a, Etimolog a y Onom stica) en la Universidad de Sevilla. Es una de las figuras m s relevantes dentro de la investigaci n en Toponimia Hisp nica. Investigadora responsable de un grupo de investigaci n --de car cter oficial desde 1990-- sobre Toponimia de Andaluc a y de dos proyectos de investigaci n de I+D y Excelencia centrados en la recopilaci n, el an lisis y la normalizaci n de los nombres de lugar del Mediod a hisp nico, de gran amplitud, ha sido presidente de la secci n VI, Toponom stica, en el ltimo XXIV Congreso Internacional de Ciencias Onom sticas (del Comit Internacional de Ciencias Onom sticas, ICOS), celebrado en la Universidad de Barcelona en septiembre de 2011. Ha coordinado el libro colectivo Toponimia de Espa a, editado recientemente tambi n por De Gruyter, as mismo dentro de la colecci n PATRONYMICA ROMANICA (n 24), y es autora adem s de otras importantes obras y numerosos art culos en revistas cient ficas de prestigio y de mbito internacional sobre tema onom stico (topon mico y antropon mico) y lexicol gico.
