Chase wiggin belongs the honor of suggesting and initiating a comprehensive plan for the forma tion and growth of a Medical Library. He said this was a subject that he had long had at heart, and, although it would never be of bene fit to him, it might be of great benefit to others. He offered to give towards a building fund of provided the balance could be raised, and annually for ten years, pro vided an annual sum of $600, could be raised for the Library. These conditions were subse quently accepted by the Library Committee, and they went to work to fulfil them. The plan and offer of Dr. Wiggin having been an nounced at this meeting, December, 1878, the Society was almost unamimously in favor of taking the necessary steps for the formation of a Library. Communication plays a central role in resolving these tensions. Messaging is central to traditional management functions, while providing a communication network structure that enables action is a more subtle, but longer lasting function of leaders. All three processes, teaming, leading, and communicating, must act in concert for the many benefits of teamwork to be realized.
