The average size of farm mortgage continued to rise; in 1957 the average mortgage acquired was $l6, ulo which compares with in 1956. Principal repaymentsy including repayments through refinancing? Dropped 5 percent. For the year as a whole, principal repayments were 10 percent of the amount out standing at the beginning of 1957; in 1956 repayments averaged 12 percent.
