Описание: El Palacio de Sanssouci es una de las residencias reales mas significativas del siglo XVIII en Alemania. Federico II de Prusia mando disenarla de acuerdo con su gusto particular y para atender sus necesidades privadas. Su construccion se llevo a cabo en un periodo de tan solo dos anos bajo la direccion del arquitecto Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff, y el resultado fue un edificio de una sola planta basado en el modelo frances de palacio de recreo. Formalmente ha de considerarse la cumbre del llamado Rococo prusiano o federiciano y tanto su ubicacion como su arquitectura y ornamentacion son un claro reflejo del nombre con el que el palacete fue bautizado: “sin preocupaciones”. Bajo su llamativa cupula se encuentra el famoso Salon de Marmol oval en el que pudo celebrarse la legendaria tertulia organizada por el soberano prusiano, deseoso de compartir, en un ambiente idilico, sus inquietudes musicales y filosoficas con invitados como Voltaire. La decoracion interior originaria, conservada en su mayor parte desde el siglo XVIII, transmite una imagen muy fiel de este punto de encuentro cultural que contribuyo decididamente a la fama de monarca ilustrado y de mecenas de Federico el Grande.

Описание: The book introduces all buildings of the Prussian kings that the Stiftung Preu?ischer Schlosser und Garten Berlin-Brandenburg is in charge of today. Its central parts, the palaces and gardens in Berlin and Potsdam were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990. The palaces of the House of Hohenzollern in Berlin, Potsdam and Brandenburg are evidence of a tradition of courtly culture lasting almost 400 years. During this time the Prussian electors and kings had their residences built by the finest architects, decorated by the best artists and their gardens laid out by the most excellent garden designers of their time. The laying of the cornerstone of Grunewald Hunting Lodge, in 1542, marked the beginning of royal building activity and the completion of Cecilienhof Palace in Potsdam, in 1917, marked its end. Among the architects were such outstanding personalities as Nering, Knobelsdorff, Buring, Gontard, Langhans, Schinkel and Persius. Godeau, Eyserbeck and Lenne were among the garden designers. The building activities were concentrated on Berlin and later Potsdam, as a second seat of power, and on the surrounding Brandenburg Marches.

Описание: Sanssouci Palace, which Frederick the Great had built to his personal specifications, is one of the most important 18th-century royal palaces. Architect Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff finished the single-storey building in 1747 in only two years. Planned on the lines of a French pleasure castle, Sanssouci represents the pinnacle of Frederician Rococo. The statuary, the structure of the building itself and its site pay tribute to 'carefree leisure'. Beneath a striking dome is the famous oval Marble Hall, where Frederick the Great held his legendary round-table meetings with the intellectual elite of his day, sharing his many artistic and philosophical interests with guests such as Voltaire in an idyllic rural setting. Most of the 18th-century furnishings have survived to provide an authentic view of this place of cultural meetings, on which in large part rests the reputation of Frederick the Great as a monarch of the Enlightenment and major patron of the arts.
