Exports to the USSR rebounded to $77 million, up from zero last August, thereby preventing a more serious decline. However, exports were off to Korea (down $82 mil lion), Canada (down $14 million), Is rael (down $12 million), and Japan (down $25 million). Year-to-date ex ports reached billion and million tons, down 37 percent in value and 27 percent in volume. Slow and sporadic exports to the USSR and Eastern Europe, due to political and economic events, accounted for half of the decline. Also, increased exports of competitively priced corn by China have hurt us. Exports to Asia, especially Korea.
