Описание: Excerpt from Revised Peony Price List: Issued July, 1922 When I-pay but my good money for Peony roots, and I have been doing that very thing for several years, I know just exactly the-kind of roots I like-to find in the express package when Iopen it. Perhaps you are not interested in the kind of roots which pleases me but I like to talk about Peony roots, and so I am going to tell you anyhow. If the man'i send' my: money to, Wants to have me smile when I Open up his ship ment, he Will Select either nloe healthy, plump one year roots With at least five eyes, and from which if there 'have been more than five eyes not a single one has been cut; or he will select a two or three year old root, and will cut from it a strong division with at least five eyes, so dis tributed that it can again be cut into three or more smaller divisions, each with one or more eyes. I do not care 1f it does not weigh more than three or four ounces, but I do insist that it have at least five eyes, and that it can be divided. Now, do you know what I do when I get such a root? Do you think I plant it the very first thing I do? No, indeed. I get out my sharpest knife and I put on my left hand. A. Heavy, tough buckskin glove and I carve that beautiful Peony-root= in a manner of which I am very pro.ud When I have finished with it I have three or more nice small divisions, and I plant them as they should be planted, and by g1v1ng them exactly the right cultivation Igrow from each of them in one season just as fine a plantas the one which pleased-me when I opened the express package. With many varieties I find it wise to let them grow into two or three year old plants before again dividing them, and I quite often find that the plant which started with only one eye is, in two or three years time, just as large, and sometimes even larger than'the plant which started with four or five eyes.
