Описание: Excerpt from Li, Duke of Chien: And the Poor Scholar Who Met a Chivalrous Man; A Chinese Novel

The story goes that during the Tang Dynasty, A. D. 742, at a place called Changau, there was a student surname Fang, personal name Te, who had been born handsome, and was very tall. He was thirty years of age. His family was very poor, and all his life there had been the bitter struggles of poverty. He entirely depended upon his wife, Pei Shih, who wove cloth for a livelihood. In the year afore mentioned, as the end of autumn arrived, he wore on his head a skin cap, and on his body he put on a big overcoat made of old summer clothing. He thought, Now that the weather is gradually becoming colder how can I go out and see people if I am like this. He then remembered that his wife would be finishing two rolls of cloth and he calculated they would soon be made into clothing.

Описание: This book is Jam-packed with over 180 works in the Light Verse genre. It contains poems that are wry, witty, comical, crude, rude, vulgar and just plain silly. Covering diverse subject matter including: education, money, food, nature, life and death, all designed to amuse and stimulate your laughing muscles. Whether you're a fan of alliteration, rhyming couplets, limericks, soliloquy, heroic ballads or parody, they're all here in all their jolly, frivolous glory. In short - there's something in this book for all tastes. Not since 1850 has a book been solely dedicated to anonymous poetry. Some of the highlights include poems about: - A raucous tale of a ladies' farting contest - An explanation of why dogs need to sniff each others bums - A contender for the invention of txt spk. Written decades before the mobile phone was invented. There are also some slightly more highbrow parodies of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven and the To Be Or Not To Be soliloquy from Shakespeare's Hamlet. It would be nice to prove that the great bard penned these himself and as they are anonymous works, who knows he may well have done...
