Описание: This is a book on Human Rights, and especially on that first step right to a hearing or due process before condemnation. It is an attempt to put on record the authors very personal experiences in trying to access justice, and the denial of that most basic fundamental of natural justice: - the right to a hearing, for close to twenty years in a country and legal system that claims to be better than most in Africa. It is also about what one suffers at the hands of some professional lawyers when one is not loaded with money; and the chances of a layman getting justice in todays professionally slanted intellectual courtroom. On paper the right to justice and especially that first step right to be heard before condemnation is assured and guaranteed. But in practice justice has been so monetized that only those who can buy top level professional assistance or have high level social/political contacts ever get a genuine opportunity. The author believes that justice is a most basic need of man and that the rights we have on paper and are supposed to be enjoying today were fought for and indeed wrested through long struggles and extreme sacrifice. Her belief therefore is that if present leadership will not add to what has already been made universally available; then at least they should not take away from what was won with so much sacrifice. It is also the authors belief that the public and the ordinary man on the other hand also have a duty and indeed the responsibility to insist on and to fight for the full utilization and enjoyment of what is on paper as universally available, beyond the mere fact that they exist on paper. In an attempt to at least try and help improve this situation for herself and also for all of humankind, the author in addition to publishing this book; is petitioning both the United Nations and the Chief Justice of Ghana. She will also be trying to garner general public support via the social media platforms to help push for the needed reforms and change in some of the negatives that affects the ordinary man in todays justice delivery. This will be done by the placing of a write up with a resolution which will include an invitation for interested members of the public to comment on and also make contributions. The platform will be dubbed: - An International Push for Reform in Justice Delivery (I.P.R. JUSTICE). The authors thinking is that perhaps distance in time from the struggles that brought about democracy and the making of justice and equal rights into universal items available to all of mankind has dulled present leaderships sensitivity to the factors that birthed these rights. Because rights, when listed as available, are meant to be used and enjoyed; not remain on paper for show. However the fact that more and more people are standing up for their rights and even trying to face up to and stand against abusive lawyers, should probably tell todays leadership that perhaps the very forcing hand of socio-historical necessity that brought about these ancient changes and the spreading of rights to all could very well be repeating itself. Todays rights though won with struggle were given to present generation on a silver platter; but if we are unwilling to fight to even maintain what was given us, that will not only be a slap to the sacrifice of our fore bearers but future generations will curse us. Fact is justice was always available to some in every generation; it was its denial to the vast majority that propelled previous generations to rebel. And yet today justice has been reduced to a saleable commodity that only a few can afford; and that is unacceptable in our 21st century jet and global village society; especially that first step right to a hearing. The authors hope is that someday justice can be a reality for all of mankind; rich and poor alike. And that the placing her experiences on record will benefit society and perhaps help with the push for a better world.
