Описание: On making many books there is no end but we trust that no excuse is needed for the present work. The subject of cellulose chemistry is among the simplest of studies, but the important advances of recent years have clarified it to such an extent that we feel the time is ripe for publishing a relatively simple book which may act as a guide to younger chemists who are entering those branches of our great industries which are concerned with cellulose. J.T. Marsh and F.C. Wood (1939) An Introduction to the Chemistry of Cellulose Recent progress in crystalline polysaccharide structure determination and the publication of numerous models of cellulose and cellulose derivatives by improved methods made a critical and up-to-date survey of structures and characterization of cellulose possible and necessary. Structural evaluations by refined experimental and computer-aided modeling represent the prerequisite for many research and testing areas of cellulosic materials, e.g., for establishing structure-property relationships (tensile strength, sorption, solubility, etc.), chemical reactivity and derivatization as well as the composition of cell wall materials and the orientation of microfibrils in cellulose fibers. Modern materials science needs tailored materials, linked to the structure for improvements and for new developments. The active species for enantiomeric separation in gel permeation chromatography columns are, e.g., microcrystalline cellulose derivative beads of a particular structure, which produce optimal results.

Описание:

Liquid crystalline polymers have seen significant development in the recent years due to their beneficial property profiles, which make them suitable materials for use in a wide range of applications. As a result, a large number of such systems have been developed with well defined structure-property correlations by employing advanced synthetic methodologies. It is envisaged that the ongoing research efforts in this direction would further expand the family of liquid crystalline polymers and its spectrum of applications significantly. In this respect, the book aims to provide in-depth insights into the recent developments and future outlook of a variety of commercially relevant liquid crystalline polymer systems.
The book is a valuable reference for polymer, chemical, biochemical and materials engineers, as well as practicing scientists and researchers in both academia and industry. It is also a useful resource for postgraduate university students in chemical, polymer and materials disciplines, along with interdisciplinary streams.

Crystalline is America's first utopia. It's run by the world's largest social media company, the Janus Corporation. The only people permitted within the city walls are Janus employees with high influencer scores. Inside is a thriving future city, but something is wrong. The Janus Corporation is doing everything to maintain a utopia. From mothers being forced to undergo in utero gene editing to suppression of outside news, the people of Crystalline are trapped inside a horrifying hermit kingdom. On the outside, everyone is hoping to get in, but on the inside, they're clawing to escape.
