Описание:

This volume presents the lecture notes from two courses given by Davar Khoshnevisan and Rene Schilling, respectively, at the second Barcelona Summer School on Stochastic Analysis.

Rene Schillings notes are an expanded version of his course on Levy and Levy-type processes, the purpose of which is two-fold: on the one hand, the course presents in detail selected properties of the Levy processes, mainly as Markov processes, and their different constructions, eventually leading to the celebrated Levy-Ito decomposition. On the other, it identifies the infinitesimal generator of the Levy process as a pseudo-differential operator whose symbol is the characteristic exponent of the process, making it possible to study the properties of Feller processes as space inhomogeneous processes that locally behave like Levy processes. The presentation is self-contained, and includes dedicated chapters that review Markov processes, operator semigroups, random measures, etc.

In turn, Davar Khoshnevisans course investigates selected problems in the field of stochastic partial differential equations of parabolic type. More precisely, the main objective is to establish an Invariance Principle for those equations in a rather general setting, and to deduce, as an application, comparison-type results. The framework in which these problems are addressed goes beyond the classical setting, in the sense that the driving noise is assumed to be a multiplicative space-time white noise on a group, and the underlying elliptic operator corresponds to a generator of a Levy process on that group. This implies that stochastic integration with respect to the above noise, as well as the existence and uniqueness of a solution for the corresponding equation, become relevant in their own right. These aspects are also developed and supplemented by a wealth of illustrative examples.

Описание:

This monograph grew out of the authors' efforts to provide a natural geometric description for the class of maps invariant under parabolic renormalization and for the Inou-Shishikura fixed point itself as well as to carry out a computer-assisted study of the parabolic renormalization operator. It introduces a renormalization-invariant class of analytic maps with a maximal domain of analyticity and rigid covering properties and presents a numerical scheme for computing parabolic renormalization of a germ, which is used to compute the Inou-Shishikura renormalization fixed point.

Inside, readers will find a detailed introduction into the theory of parabolic bifurcation, Fatou coordinates, calle-Voronin conjugacy invariants of parabolic germs, and the definition and basic properties of parabolic renormalization.

The systematic view of parabolic renormalization developed in the book and the numerical approach to its study will be interesting to both experts in the field as well as graduate students wishing to explore one of the frontiers of modern complex dynamics.

Описание: This is a comprehensive survey on the research on the parabolic Andersonmodel – the heat equation with random potential or the random walk in randompotential – of the years 1990 – 2015. The investigation of this model requiresa combination of tools from probability (large deviations, extreme-valuetheory, e.g.) and analysis (spectral theory for the Laplace operator withpotential, variational analysis, e.g.). We explain the background, theapplications, the questions and the connections with other models and formulatethe most relevant results on the long-time behavior of the solution, like quenchedand annealed asymptotics for the total mass, intermittency, confinement andconcentration properties and mass flow. Furthermore, we explain the mostsuccessful proof methods and give a list of open research problems. Proofs arenot detailed, but concisely outlined and commented; the formulations of sometheorems are slightly simplified for better comprehension.
