Well, they were desperate to revive a Tape Player, which they obtained in 1967 due to an unplanned mishap in our own space program, which is still unknown to us. It wasnt the device, but its content that made this Tape Player so important to the aliens - a cassette with the music of 1967 Earths rising star - Jimi Hendrix. They heard his music and they were hooked More than hooked, they were addicted And, as Im certain you can figure out, when the batteries of the Tape Player died, the aliens had no choice but to go and get some more. Only this trip to the local 7-11 was over 50 bi-zillion miles away. While on Earth, as the aliens doing their best to find replacement batteries, they would encounter the varied population of California of the early 70s: Hippies; Black Panthers; the rest of us; and, as luck would have it, Jimi Hendrix himself. This exposure to our Culture will force the aliens to make a crucial decision about their future. In the meantime, if you wonder why this 1970 invasion of California, USA never happened?
