Описание: Published on the occasion of the first major retrospective of the work of the great French fashion designer, this volume celebrates a key twentieth-century creator and a living legend in the history of haute couture. The exhibition, devised by Hubert de Givenchy himself and curated by Eloy Mart nez de la Pera, provides an exceptional survey of the couturiers creations over nearly half a century, from the opening of the Maison Givenchy in Paris in 1952 to his professional retirement in 1995. A hundred or so of his finest pieces selected from museums and private collections all over the world, many of them never previously shown, establish a dialogue in the Museums galleries with a group of works belonging to the Thyssen-Bornemisza collections.
Hubert de Givenchy (born 1927) was born to an aristocratic family in Beauvais, France. After completing his studies at the cole des Beaux-Arts, Givenchy worked for several fashion designers, including the avant-garde Elsa Schiaparelli. In 1952 he opened his own fashion house, his style markedly innovative compared to the conservatism of his contemporaries. He was, at age 25, the youngest couturier of the Parisian fashion scene. Thanks to his elegant, feminine designs, the Givenchy brand soon became synonymous with Parisian chic, and the designer is known for dressing celebrity icons such as Jacqueline Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.

Описание: This luxurious volume showcases more than three hundred pieces designed by the imaginative French jeweler James Taffin de Givenchy, in his first book. "Jewelry is an emotional object that projects who you are. It takes artistry, intellect, and logic to make it," said James Taffin de Givenchy. Since launching his own jewelry business in 1996, Taffin has garnered a glowing reputation as a connoisseur of exotic gems and a designer who fuses Old World European glamour with pared-down modernity. His incredible bijoux are at once eclectic and whimsical, and embrace a symphony of colors, gems, and shapes. This opulent volume grants access to Taffin s world as the designer shares his inspirational references, intimate photographs of his studio, and hundreds of exquisite photographs of his lavish one-of-a-kind pieces that, like him, are, at once, sophisticated but lighthearted, extraordinary yet unpretentious. Taffin is recognized for both sculptural designs that augment the individuality of each gemstone and the unexpected and playful use of materials from rubber to ceramic to the steel of recycled AK-47s. Capturing the designs of a passionate colorist, Taffin brings to life the inventive and bold combinations of diamonds, peridots, sapphires, mandarin garnets, and coral creations in a volume that is truly a feast for the eyes. Lavishly illustrated, this book gives fashion and design lovers a unique look at Taffin s vivid and creative works."

An astonishing truth concealed for years, unveiled at last...with more than a little help from a supercute new guy.

As if a recent breakup, scrounging for rent money, and lusting after designer shoes weren't enough, Melanie Prescott starts receiving obscure codes and clues from a menacing stranger. She attempts to solve the mysteries -- enlisting the help of a tall, dark, and handsome new friend -- with high hopes for the multimillion-dollar reward guaranteed at the end (handbags, sunglasses, and shoes, oh my ). That is, if she can survive the deadly game.

Описание: The handsome, aristocratic Hubert de Givenchy blended the hallowed traditions of haute couture with a modern sensibility. For 40 years he focused always on purity of line, but combined an artist`s eye with a keen entrepreneurial mind. His innovative 1952 debut collection made its mark by presenting separates, then a little-known approach to fashion. Givenchy created the most unrepentantly glamorous of evening dresses, developed the influential `chemise` dress without a waistline, and fielded debonair little daytime suits which have never gone out of fashion. He is also credited with pioneering the princess silhouette, and his name became forever linked with the Sabrina neckline after dressing Hepburn in the eponymous film.

Описание: Audrey Hepburn was Gigi, a princess, Holly Golightly, Maid Marian, even an angel. But she was also one of the most admired and emulated women of the 20th century who encouraged women to discover intelligence in their own strength. By example she not only changed the way women dress - she altered the way they viewed themselves. This style biography reveals the details - fashion and otherwise - that contributed so greatly to Audrey's appeal. Drawing on interviews with Hubert de Givenchy, Gregory Peck, Nancy Reagan, Doris Brynner and Audrey Wilder, as well as reminiscences of professional friends like Steven Spielberg and Ralph Lauren, the book brings Audrey to life, giving measure to her grace, humour and inimitable fashion sense.
